HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Which relays?
I have my SSP Wiring modified harness installed, it has it's own fan and fuel pump relays.
I am using the 944 A.C. with a F body compresssor, it's clutch is controlled from the GM computer and triggered by the 944 AC request line from pin 13 of the 14 pin connector. The Porsche switches located on the dryer are intact and hooked up.
Which unused Porsche relays can I now safely remove? (DME??)
PS The internal valve in the compressor has been disabled.

Re: Which relays?
I took my DME relay and the fuel pump fuse out and everything is working fine.
How about all those connections at the + battery terminal. One of them IIRC goes to the DME for constant power. Could that or any others be eliminated?

DME Relay
I have connected the LS1 compter fuel pump outlet (via a relay) to pin 4 on the 14 Pin firewall connector (Fuel pump).
Fuel pump runs fine unitil I remove the DME relay. My schematic shows that pin 4 goes direct to the fuel pump. Any ideas why pulling the DME relay kills the fuel pump? The fuel pump fuse #34 has been removed.

Re: Which relays?
Did you tie in 87 off of the relay to the drivers side of fuse #34? I did mine like Xshop posted

DME Relay
Again....my schematic shows a direct line to the fuel pump from pin 4 on the 14 pin connector (T21).
This line runs via one end of relay #34 (xchop's driver's side) then on to the pump.
Fuse 34 has been removed so that line cannot be influenced by the DME relay.
The original use of this line was a voltage feed from fuse 34 back thru pin 4 of T21 to the oxygen sensor then on to the DME Control Unit.
There must be another connection to this line that does not appear on the schematic.
Guess I have to keep the DME relay.

Re: Which relays?
I installed a new relay and fuse for the fuel pump, I felt it was worth it to know exactly how it was wired. Cheap and didn't take long to do, no guess work.

DME Relay
I have already done that, just using an existing wire in T21

Re: Which relays?
You have yours wired exactly like mine and I don't need the DME relay in place for the new relay to run the fuel pump. I will check the pin on the mid harness later to make sure.

Re: Which relays?
I checked, mine is connected to the pin 4 at the mid harness. I am out.

Re: Which relays?
Mike, Arthro is right. Pin#4 is tied directly to the driver's side of Fuse #34
So you can toss the spade teminal from your +12v FP relay from fuse #34 and wire/solder it to Pin#4

DME Relay......PROBLEM FOUND
FOUND THE PROBLEM
My harness was modified by SSP and I ordered their relay panel that controls the Fans and the Fuel Pump. Power for this setup is taken from Pin 3 on the 14 pin connector T21. This is switched +12 volts. The source for this +12 volts is through the DME Relay. Pull the relay and the volts go to zero.
Must look for a different (and easy) source of switched +12 volts........any suggestions?

Re: Which relays?
I got switched power from the drivers side of the radio fuse. You can get switched power from the ignition switch, also.
There is a two pin plug that goes to the factory alarm in the passenger side footwell. I was wondering if that has a switched and constant power. If so that would be a convenient location to pull power from.

Switched power
I'm having a problem tracing through the wiring diagrams.
What color is the wire on the Driver's side of Fuse 36....Factory Radio?
I believe the other side is red/white.

Re: Which relays?
It was a smaller gauge red/black stripe wire. You can get to it from the molex connector on the ignition switch, also. Several people suggested using a double fuse jumper.
