For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

LT1 harness & PCM- does source car matter?
Time to get this project going now that tax refund is in hand... so, the engine is from a '94 vette, does it matter if the wiring harness & PCM are from a Camaro or Caprice? Does it matter if they are from a manual or automatic?
EDIT: oh yeah, how about the year?

You can even use an LS1 harness, computer and coils/cylinder. I guess thats starting to become a popular thing to do.

Leave the SmogNaziville and buy a ironblock LS engine with all those mods already included with the upgraded block and heads
Seriously take care of the Optispark problem while the engine is out.

Eventually, but for now I'm here and I have to deal with CARB.
I am hesitant to mess with the ignition system until I have my sticker. It would majorly suck to get everything together and running and not get past the CARB referee.

For future reference, here are a couple threads I found about using LS1 harness, PCM, coils on the LT1. The first link references the second, but the URL is invalid.

Maybe the CARB station will fall off when the big one hits

One can only hope. Although the more likely scenario is the idiots in Sacramento (via San Francisco) will claim that man made emissions caused it, and as punishment, we will all be forced to ride electric mopeds.

LOL...
You heard the one about fat chicks and mopeds right?

Let me know how your referee trip goes. I'm building the courage to go get my sticker for the Cab too.

Fun until your friends find out?
They will find a way to take the fun out of mopeds.

I will. Still have plenty to do, but I am hoping it won't be too long.

Do they allow a larger PPM # for HC's out the Pipe for the 94 LT1 engine?

As far as I know, the car has to have all the smog equipment that the vehicle the engine originally came in had, and pass the same test. It will basically be a 94 corvette for all intents and purposes.

Do they make you add the extra 500 LBS to match the 94 vette weight as well?

by the time I'm done with my stereo, spinnerz, and 3 ft tall wing, it will be a wash.
I don't know why we have an elephant, but this seemed an appropriate place for one.

LOL.... Just jisting about the way Cantafordya dictates every aspect of your life. If Half the population would just leave the bankrupted state, then the CO2 emissions would be cut in half....

I'm concered about the Firebird Air intake and accessory tree on my engine. Technially all the LT1's were identical (Vette had different exhaust and 4 bolt mains) I had to convert mine to all vette and add all the cali emissions crap to it (since it was an outta state engine, big deal EGR was different).

The real problem any time there is a bureaucrat involved is that if you catch them on the right day, everything is cool, if something could go one way or the other, they let you go with it. On the wrong day, they won't pass you because your name has vowels in it.
