HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Specs
These are 26 inches in diameter, and 13.3 inches of tread width. I haven't run the calculations on the impact to RPMs at cruising speed yet, need to do that. I have a turbo tranny with the N/A fifth gear added, wonder what RPMs would be like with that Audi diesel fifth? I will need to do something about the speedo calibration, open to thoughts there. If my math is right, with the 8 inches the flares add to the rear width of the car, these will make up about 34% of the rear. Come on spring so I can bond the flares on!

How are you fitting those? Do you have a super wide body kit on the car?

Re: 87 S with 2004 GTO LS1
Yes in this thread is my build of Admin's flares on my car, they add 4 inches to each side on the rear. I'm currenlty using spacers for fitting the flares while my rims are being built.

Re: 87 S with 2004 GTO LS1
Rims are coming from zeforged.com, they will have the hybrids crest in the centers.
Admin, flares already look great!
Had to switch to 265s for the fronts, shortage out there on 255s, so 9.5 inch rims for the front instead of 9 inch.

Go wider in the front. I easily fit 275's up front...

275s sound like a good idea, I was concerned about rubbing.
Mike, the centers are specific to these rims.

Re: 87 S with 2004 GTO LS1
I'm running 275-40-17 race tires on 17x9 ET55 wheels with no rubbing. They'll fit fine, I do run a bunch of negative camber, so that probably helps...

Here are some shots with the current tires and 4 inch spacer, and the R888 to get an idea what the future look will be.

Rims!
Here's the 335 mounted on the 12 x 18 rims. The 948 was supposed to be in the Porsche font, I will call tomorrow to get that fixed. I will post pictures of the widebody and tire setup as soon as I can roll it out of the garage.

That was my expression when I opened the boxes! They are even better in person, workmanship is outstanding! I have the driver's rear flare bonded on, will start working the passenger's side this week.

Mike's put a lot of work into these flares! I wasn't able to see the rims yet in person (when I visited, they were being mounted), but I am sure his ride is going to be almost as flashy as mine.

Wheel Wells
I've been meaning to post some more pics, here's the constuction of the driver's side wheel well.
I used fibreglass mat with screen on each side, then put a layer of mat and resin over it. I used epoxy resin for it's strength and very low oder. My tiny garage is atached to the house and fumes penetrate the living areas very quickly.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
I used tape and wire through the mesh to keep things together
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
The diferences in colors are due to slow and fast hardeners I was experimenting with due to variations in outside temperatures.

Here is the wheel installed and trimmed to fit inside the flare. I made this so it is as flat as possible at the top to allow for the massive tires. I used a couple of different microfibres to thicken up and strenghten the resis. This turned out so strong I could stand on it, and I weigh about 250!
More pics to come on the flare installation and fitment with the new rims and tires.
