HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

First off, welcome, second If you want good answers post in the correct topic area.
As far as exhaust setups, you can use Sanderson Headers or have custom made headers built.

Chevy Corvette Rams Horn manifolds fit. You just need to be certain that you get the ones that both dump straight down. Some of the drivers side turn towards the rear at the outlet and those do not work.

The only thing that I know of that will fit are shorty headers. If you want long tubes your going to have to go custom. If you do decide to do that there are a couple guys on here that can help you out with that (I'm doing that now).

i used Patriot tight tuck shorties on my LT1, they're round ports so they should bolt up to your sbc. I cut the collector flanges off and welded straight to them to give myself more room, you'll still need to beat on your frame rails and maybe the side of the header just a bit, but it should fit nicely

Thank you so much for the info. I will work on where to post for next time. Is the LT1 exhaust the same as a small block??? I have never played with LT1 or LS1. Will shorty headers clear the steering shaft?? I didn't think modifying cast headers would last.

IIRC the LT1 is the same. The LS1, well, not so much. I'm using the Pacesetter headers from a 96 Vette. Cut the collector 1" and everything welds up.

Re: 86 944 sbc exhaust ????
LT1 and SBC headers have the same bolt pattern. LT heads had a D shaped exhaust port in the head, whereas most SBC heads had a O shaped exhaust port. With the right header gaskets everything will bolt up fine and seal up fine, and anyway most headers are made for sbc's and then are transferable to the D style LT head, so most will be a perfect fit for you straight out!

Re: 86 944 sbc exhaust ????
So the LT1 style center cylinder exhaust ports are close together like a SBC? I have done a little bit of looking for ram horn style manifolds. I need the ones that dump straight down, not curved? Does anybody know of a cheap shortie block hugger header that works? Thanks so much for your time I am learning quite a bit.

There's a block hugger listed here somewhere that fits as well.

i'm pretty sure those are the ones i used...the 150 dollar set is just plain steel, not ceramic coated. And you'll probably have issues with the collector flanges, because they add at least 1/2 an inch on each side that you really need. Other than that they should bolt right up!

As I have said in my previous post, Get the Sanderson headers that fit! They bolt right up with no fab work needed.
Re: 86 944 sbc exhaust ????
Or something like the pacesetters that I'm using.
