For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Another restore project
I am looking at redoing the center console. I torn off the old dried up viynl that lines the center consol on the late models. Under the vinyl is some type of foam that has been shaped to the plastic skeleton underneath.
I have decided it would be in the best interest to probrably keep most of this foam in one piece to use as a setup point. What I am not sure about is how to go about filling in the few chunks that were ripped off with the vinyl and the old sun damage to get a smooth surface for the new fabric.
Anyone have any ideas?

GREAT STUFF expanding sealant foam. I've heard of friends using it with good results. If you look on rennlist, I think that there was a tutorial posted by someone who redid their dash board and filled in the missing foam chunks using this stuff as well.
When I get around to doing the interior this is probably the route I'll be going unless someone tries it and fails. Its cheap, has good adhesion properties, sand-able and dense so I can't see any reason not to use it....

Most upholstery supply houses sell a replacement foam by the yard. It's white and about 1/8" to 3/16" thick, and its cheap. Just scrape/sand all that old foam off and glue on new stuff. Don't mess with the patch job. Unless you are just doing a mock up. Do the final piece properly, you'll be happy that you did.

Eric thanks, now I have to find an upholstery shop.
As far as expanding foam goes. I haven't had any luck with my other projects with it. At least not the spray foam. But this stuff is not expanding foam its what Eric is talking about.
