For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Re: Stupidity at its finest
its an article written with the intent to grab views from social media sites, and the entire point is to put a billion ads in front of the reader. the substance of the article comes second.
for those not bothering to read it, and i recommend not bothering to, here is what sums it up
-v8 engines are heavy, an ls will add so much weight to the nose (we all know the truth of that)
-the car has a weak transaxle that will blow up as soon as you start the v8 (we all know the deal around that)
-944 are going up in value, gotta keep them original so you can have a big cash out
-80s 150hp sports cars should be appreciated as is.
also like to note that it shows the author has written 100 articles mainly about porsches, ill assume he is a typical porsche purist.

I agree. He is someone that does not know about swaps period. My car still is at the original weight distribution and also slightly lighter overall than a stock 84.

Having weighed a complete take out 944 engine, and a complete all aluminum LS engine, I have found the LS is about 15lbs heavier than a turbo engine, and 40lbs heavier than an na. This won't change handling characteristics by any real noticeable amount.
Yes, the NA trans is super weak. But every LS swap 944 we built got either a turbo or 968 trans. None of my clients have broken one yet.
As far as value, A low miles all original 944 will bring decent money. But there are few of those left these days. One of my clients sold his 944 turbo LS swapped car for over $40k on bring a trailer a few months ago. That's a rare price, but the ls swapped cars do bring good money.
And yes, you are correct about him being a Porsche purist, but it was still a very uninformed article on his part. He either didn't do any research and just made his own opinion, or chose to ignore said research to make himself look good.
My 2 cents. Not meant to be argumentive
