HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Head light conversion buckets Empty Head light conversion buckets

Post  Admin Thu Jun 11, 2009 9:30 am

Does any one have a set of head light conversion buckets they could send to me. I have started a nice set but it will take me quite a while to get them done. If someone has a set they would not mind me copying I will pay for shipping both ways and send you an extra set to sell on this forum if you would like. I just need the bucket. I can make everything else.
Thanks

If you are offering up yours, what kind of shape are they in? Can you send or post some close up pics of them?

OK I just looked at your post with the headlight bucket pictured in the car. They fit real nice..... Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

If you are willing to pull them and send them to me I'll majorly improve them! and send you back a new set and you old ones. I also send you new acrylic covers that fit....

Just so you will know I'm not full of $#**, I have all the stuff to make the molds as we at Texas Performance Concepts build and sell Cobra replica bodies.

The ones that I have been designing use the small square double element type bulbs and the metal basket from any old Mustang or Lincoln or just about anything with the small square bulb

The bucket is just laid in the hole, it fits really well once it is crewed down.

Click on GALLERY, then "User (or Personal, can't remember which) Albums" on the left, and "Send Pic".
Yea, the gallery sucks...may switch to Glacier style (like PHB) just for a decent gallery...to upload in post, click the "host image" icon, or you can link to a url (Photobucket, etc.).

I'll have to get 944-LT1 give you the info on what lights go in, I do not have them in hand just yet. Should be Monday or so then I can answer your question completely. The buckets that I had originally made used the small rectangular double element bulbs sitting in the small headlight bucket from the old mustangs.

Two sets. First set is 4" (with a halo) that I use for the brights. The other set is 3" that I use for driving lights. When I hit the brights, the 4" lights come on with the 3" lights. Both sets are universal bought from ebay and autozone. Nothing fancy at all.

Night-time driving is OK. Not great like modern cars which is why I was looking into HID replacements. But, since Eric made a deal I couldnt refuse, I'll see what he comes up with! If his version of the bucket lights illuminates the road better than the ones I sent him, ill probably stick them in my car and put the old ones on the shelf. Not sure.

Exciting though!

OK, Headlight bucket molds are done. Sorry 944-LT1, I did not copy yours for obvious reasons . Very Happy

I should have the first set pulled by tomorrow afternoon. I will then install them in my car to see what kind of brackets they need.

Should have them ready to start sending them out by the end of next week. Razz

Wow. They look great. Yeah, the GTracing buckets arent much. They dont fit very good either unless you do alot of work mounting them. Mad

Oh yeah, that's the money shot - they look great! Any idea how much you'll be selling them for?

BTW - I'm assuming that the top flange is NOT flush with the sheetmetal, taking into account the thickness of the lense covers? What thickness Lexan should we be using for these?

I will be making the lens cover out of uv resistant acrylic, I was told this would be the best for them. They will be 1/8" thick to start with. They will loose a little thickness from the forming, not enough to notice.
As far as a price , it has yet to be determined. I think I have a much better product then GT, I just don't know how to price them fairly. I have a lot of hours in making the first set and molds. All of the extra parts seem to add up quickly. I am still looking for the metal rings and basket for the headlights, I can't seem to find new ones that are cheap enough, Everyone want $40 to $60 a set. Shocked

This is a picture of the set back for the lens cover

Excellent - that extra space is one of those little details that people sometime forget.

I think that sourcing the headlights and hardware is probably best left for local purchase at wrecking yards. We could probably come up with a list of headlight units that fit properly, and provide that to everyone. I'm sure it would be relatively easy to find the older style square headlight, rings, etc. from a large yard rather than buying new.

In any event, put me down for a set!
