HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

damned aluminum
replacing the power rack and got to the last of the 4 fasteners and STRIPPED the damned xmember. My fault, but the fastener FELT like it was not xthreaded. Poll the group- am i better to:
A. Install helicoil and reassemble?
B- Drill through the xmember and fasten with a bolt and nut config?
C- Replace the xmember entirely?
D- tap to the next largest size?
Interested in what yall think.

Crossmember - you might be able to find another used one for cheap on Craigslist, Pelican or Rennlist. I can see where that can happen...bummer.

Helicoil it. It ends up stronger than it was before.

If you want an X member, there is one on the bottom of my turbo engine. I won't rip you off too badly.

I have one stripped too!!! Just happened last week. I'll be helicoiling it; but I wouldnt lose any sleep if I had to tap it to next size or nut-n-bolt it either.

I got one if you need it....feel free to PM me. Im worry about heli-coil sometimes, when it you do it with cst aliminum. But Im sure many has done it.

i went the helicoil route AND put a nut on the end. aerospace industry is getting to me with all of the redundancy, lol.

Those bolts are rated at 30lbs of torque, no?
