For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Rear Seat Delete
Anyone know if there is a manufactured rear seat delete (club sport) that is made in the USA that is cheaper than the one from Duetsch Nine? Thiers is about $400 plus $20 shipping (not bad from Europe).
Here is a link to thier part: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Thanks!

Re: Rear Seat Delete
I might just take you up on that. Would it suffer any damage after your secondary quality assurance inspection? You know, load testing and such
Re: Rear Seat Delete
Hmmm.
I've been looking at this route as well. Will be anxious to see what you turn out, Admin!

Stress testing it won't do any damage to it. I may have to re carpet it for you though.
Re: Rear Seat Delete
Looks like the carpet they used didnt match all that well anyway.
Interesting!

Re: Rear Seat Delete
it does look darker but they say "which is then press fitted". The press fitting is a cool thing. I am not sure how nice of a fit you get with just plain roll carpet.
Re: Rear Seat Delete
Those are nice, Dawgz, but the price they go for is unbelievable! Plus they were made for the convertible cars, so they don't even fit well in the hardtops. Custom seems to be the route to go.

Re: Rear Seat Delete
That enclosure is particle board, I want true resin fiberglass... have you seen particle board expansion after it has gotten dripped on or condensation?

If you've got water in the car, you've got bigger problems than just a subwoofer enclosure.
Besides, nothing a little paint couldn't prevent.

I plan on a large ice chest for the summer, they sweat like pigs in 90+ temps in OKieville....
But most importantly I want that area left available for possibly moving the battery back there as I am working on a C5 vacuum booster located in the factory battery location.

It is not hard to get water in those rear compartments, the tubing that runs the drainage through there can easily get disconnected. One time after a big rain, I had a solid 6" in one of those because the "drain," aka the hole that the tube was supposed to exit through, was plugged.
Re: Rear Seat Delete
Product update...
I received the rear seat delete form Deutsch Nine. Initial appearance was ok. However, upon close inspection I found that the carpet is not adhearing well. It looks like it was pull too tight and the area in bottom curve area is pulling up. It is supposed to be "press fitted with a matching OEM style carpet material". I guess this means that the guy in the back of the shop presses it down by hand. I did a trial fit and it seems to be ok. But one odd thing is is that there is no secring mechanism. It is just a interferance fit. I guess this is ok, but I really do like things do be secure, not just jammed into place.
I'll see about getting some pictures posted of the part. My entire interior is out now but I will post some photos when it is all re-installed.
