HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

LS430 Big Brake Swap
First off, I don't own a patent and could care less if you made 100 sets. I'm not a big company that pretends I have a patent and kicks you off a public forum because I actually have no legal recourse.
I came up with the Lexus Caliper idea so I didn't have to spend 1200 hard earned dollars to line the Pockets of some snooty bastard behind a keyboeard.....I am designing more things for the 944 V8 swap and will only post details on this forum from now on.
That being said, anything I design and offer for sale, I will first post diagrams for anyone that wants to do it himself or herself for that matter. The 86 turbo is the unknown and it is being worked on.....POPP
For Early cars you have to machine your hubs like this
For late cars you need billet centering rings like these
And Adapter brackets have to be precision machined accordingly

Re: LS430 Big Brake Swap
Glad to see you back! This has all been such BS. Thought I'd supplement the above diagrams with RL pics of the setup.

"""""LS-430""""" front 4-pot radial mounted type with the dowel pin extensions. These are better designed than Brembo's calps

Re: LS430 Big Brake Swap
What are the specs on the LS430 calipers? What piston size? How does it compare to 951 fronts?
What are the dimensions of the Boxster S rotors?
I'm trying to get an idea for how much improvement these calipers and rotors would provide.

318mm Boxster S rotors
I will have to mic the piston...IIRC 4 x 42mm pistons

Re: LS430 Big Brake Swap
According to my rough calculations, this caliper and rotor should have excellent balance with the 86 stock MC and the 18/5 prop valve. Do you guys know the width of the rotor's braking surface, the annulus width? I just guessed on that for my calcs.
I apologize if you guys had already done this math, but I couldn't find it anywhere.
Do you guys know if these calipers have stainless pistons? Are they a monobloc design? Has anyone purchased the remanufactured calipers that sell for around $85 each?

LS430 caliper specs
They are 4 x 42mm piston MONOBLOC ALLOY. That is why I chose them, they are an excellent match for the 944 Master Cylinders. I will be doing hydroboost or possibly a dual manual like 948 member did on the Gestapo board.
There are other calipers that are as nice (like Toyota Supra 4 pots). But of course you will pay nicely even if you can find them. I have the refurbed ones at 140/pr and I have rebuilt calipers before and these are new. The pistons are even new,so it's hard to tell if they are stainless. I haven't stuck a magnet to them, but higher strength stainless is usually magnetized because of the higher Fe % for strength/durability.

Re: LS430 Big Brake Swap
Hi, I was wondering if this swap will fit inside early offset, 15 fuchs? BTW nice to see everyone jumping over

Re: LS430 Big Brake Swap
Not likely, they are BIG - booyah!
(BTW - this is in comparison to the bigger 951 rear calipers, which I don't believe fit under early offset 15" Fuchs).

I'm gonna say no see pics below

Re: LS430 Big Brake Swap
Johnny, could you get me a width comparison of the 951 caliper vs the Lexus Caliper. By width I mean from the "Porsche" text to the opposite side of the caliper. I'm curious if there will be clearance issues with wheel spokes.

154mm for the rear 951 calipers, 162mm for the Lexus.

Re: LS430 Big Brake Swap
Thanks Johnny and Msmoorenberg, I do have 17" italian knockoffs ( very heavy ) for the street, but still run 15" fuchs for track days

More dims for wheel clearance questions
The 55mm dim on the lexus calps is the dim that I wanted to know on the Big Reds but never got a reply to.

Thanks for those dims. I have to say those Lexus calipers are stout. I guess stopping a massive luxury car is no easy task.

86 Turbo about to be cracked
Anybody have an 86 Turbo hub and Rotor to measure the dimensions. IT's the ODDBALL
Basically need to know the rotor dimensions to verify if all that is needed is to drill the bracket mount bolt spreadwidth to 94mm
What I,m concerned with is the rotor heighth being the same as the Early NA rotor height (NOT Width).
Hard to tell from the pics but what is critical is the dimension in yellow being same as the 83-85.5 NA......
Any input ???? .....PORH

Yeah, They think I stole their Lexus Caliper on Boxster Rotor Idea and infringed on their Adapter Bracket design by posting for all the world to see!!!

Carbotech makes pads for the LS430 calipers
I checked a few manufacturers and Carbotech is the only one I could find that offers both street and track pads. You can get any of their compounds in this pad size.

Track pads
SCHWEEEEET. I am gonna see what it takes to drop the LS430's on the rear as well.....can't beat the price. I looked at a brand new set of Brembo 4-pots for a Mustang and they don't have anything on the Lexus calps....
