HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 4:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Re: poor man porsche
You need a bypass type regulator to use the stock pump with a carb. This will regulate to the pressure you need and bypass the balance of the fuel back to the gas tank.
The problem with just using a regulator is that you basically dead head the pump and it overheats the motor. The fuel system of all FI cars use a bypass on the regulator for this reason. Even the cars like Chrysler that only hace one fuel line fron the tank. These have a regulating device that bypasses at the outlet of the pump inside the tank. The FI pump motor is cooled by the gas flowing through it.

Re: poor man porsche
Simple fix to your fuel pump problem.
Take out the porsche stock fuel pump located under the cover of your gas tank rear passanger side , put in a electric fuel pump with a regulator that is rated for your carbed engine or put in a line instead of the porsche fuel pump and use the mechanical pump on your engine. Stick with the easy solution.
You'll bypass any problems with the porsche pump overheating.
Shouldn't take more then maybe 45 min and that is probabley estimating abit on the long side.

Re: poor man porsche
Hi! What are you going to do for a master cyl?
As far as fuel pressure regulator this IMO is the the best for the price return type regulator on the market! Mallory 4309, [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] Used one on my 489 BBC on my airboat. Planning on picking up another one for my 944/SBC!
Hot Links are nice but copy/paste works! Bill

Re: poor man porsche
So did you just chop #7 off and move it over to #1 spot (flange and all?)

Thanks for the pointer.
I see you did it differently to another guys pics. Your method keeps the new long pipe
closer to the flange.

Re: poor man porsche
Check my gallery, you want to make sure #1 is tucked as close as possible to #7 as it curves around. My rear driver's head is only 3/8" away from firewall and #1 is about 1 3/4" from firewall as it curves back around......The V8 trans mount (-5/8" Aft) puts it there and #3 clears the steering shaft alot more now.
