HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

I wont be able to get out to measure that stuff for you. If you can see the weather channel, Oklahoma was covered in ice last night and continues to swallow us in snow today. I dont have heat or electric in my storage so I will have to wait.

Sorry

944 Firewall Reinforcement Plate - Page 3 Empty Gettin' "Plate(-ed)"...

Post  gt1scca on Fri Jan 29, 2010 4:39 pm

Fits "snug as a bug in a rug"...

The 944 Stock version is temped-in-place here, just to illustrate the application.
(Flush-mount M8 socket head bolts will come with the V8 bolt-on application.)

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

The V8 version is cut with the Wilwood mounting flange in place of the oval cutout from the 944 firewall, and both plates include mounting options for the Wilwood or stock 944 clutch master cylinder. I was attempting a 1-Plate universal application, but the Wilwood brake MC demands a specific mounting option...

Cost is the same either way, and both plates can be cut from the same .dxf nest file.
I could have the bolt-on plates polished (for a fee, of course)...
Yeah, I know...

Awesome, right?

I have not read about it or experienced it myself. What is the purpose of reinforcing the firewal there?

Greg,

How goes it? Been lurking on the board to keep up with everyone and see that things are rocking right along.

I was wondering if you were selling the Plates as I need one. After 4 years of stomping on the brake pedal the firewall is finally showing some flex.

Hope all is well.

Marc

Greg is no longer with us (on the forum that is). Check the customer service section of this board. Greg really hosed some folks on here....

I am not sure if TPC is making these or maybe XSCHOP?

Would anyone happen to have the "bolt in" pattern for the firewall plate? I was going through my stuff and cant seem to find the "bolt in" hole pattern template. I cant remember if Sloan even ever sent it.

I never made one of those. From what I've seen posted here the Clutch MC mounting needs 7-9 degrees incorporated into it and a longer pushrod made. If I were to install one it would have the same preload link that goes to the strut tower incorporated...

Thanks for pointing that out. I went back and looked at some pictures of the bare firewall and it does look like the clutch MC location is canted back.

I dont recall posts discussing binding issues. I will have to search for that.

I guess I should break this thread out of the for sell section...

Yes, someone posted the problem recently. If not addressed it can cause the MC piston to vector into the 12 o'clock position and wear out prematurely. I think the plate is a great idea that can be modded further by cutting reliefs near the clutch MC area and re-welding the material to get the factory degree back. That would fix the pushrod problem too.

Bummer. had mine all nice and powder coated. I suppose I'll take stock when I take the engine and brake MC out.

I had/have this problem with the plate Greg made. I measured and it turned out to need 3 degrees angle. I simply used my angle finder at the firewall with the brake master pushrod protruding from the hole. It was 3 degrees with respect to the firewall itself.

To confirm, I measured my "cereal bowl" angle and it was 3 degrees as well.

Same thing for the clutch I assume.

So to clarify your saying the brake ceral bowl is 3* canted back.
XSchop is saying the clutch mc is 7-9* canted back.
is this right?
I need to make of these. I have seen firewall cracks on other peoples car due to lack of strength.
Any other thoughts or updates on how we could improve on Sloan's design?

On my clutch MC measurement I got the best measurement I could see by going under the dash with a magnetic angle finder. This is WITHOUT any re-drilling of clevis attachment point nor firewall plate installed.

On the Brake MC I just measured the cereal bowl that I use for a template and it is exactly 11 degrees (from my 85.5 car)

So you have made a plate? How did you go about getting the angle correct for the brake & clutch MC's? I can cut and weld what ever but I dont have a machine shop at my finger tips (im jealous)

I do plan on buying wilwood brake & clutch MC's so Ill need the different bolt pattern

Thanks,
Bryan
