HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 2:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

LS2 Mounts
First post , here goes .
I have a couple of questions . Firstly which drawings for the engine mount block plates are correct for an LS2 engine in a 944 ? There are some on the wiki page but also came across some drawings xchop has done and I believe one of them has the wrong dimensions . Will either of these work with the LS2 ?
What solid mounts would I need and the best place to purchase .
I realise TPC sells these complete but being in the UK with postage and Tax it gets expensive so better to fabricate and made to fit .
The engine I have has ITB's and an ARE dry sump pan . Will the dry sump pan clear the front cross member with the uprights as shown in the drawing on the wiki page ? As in , I am looking for clearance measurement between bottom of block and cross member . Not concerned about hood clearance as a race car and hood will be cut for ITB to poke out .
Thanks in advance . Simon

Re: LS2 Mounts
Hello there,
Sounds like a great engine you're working with! As for the engine block plates, the real issue you have is going to be clearing the crossmember with a dry sump pan. While dry sump pans are much shorter than s standard pan, the TPC kit (which most of us use) works with spacers to drop the crossmember 1/2", so the hood will shut. The issue is only a miodified champ pan (which TPC sells) fits properly. Others have modified pans to work as well, but you'll need some good fab skills to do that properly.
For an ARE dry sump pan, you'll need at least 1.5" of added drop to the crossmember, but that's just a guess. If you're committed to that dry sump setup, you'll likely need to fab your own engine mounts and add spacers to the Porsche crossmember, but at that amount of drop, you'll likely see some poor geometry work its way into the front suspension.
All said and done, your best bet may be to fabricate a crossmember that will allow clearance for the pan, but retain the OEM pickup points for the control arm. That or ditch the dry sump for the TPC oil pan and engine mounts.
Hope this helps!
