HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Looking for a Hydroboost setup for my 1989 NA. I have the Wilwood setup as shown that is available if anyone is interested.

Thanks

87roadracer,

The TPC Hydroboost kit has everything you need.  I just finished my conversion to HB in my '87 and documented the effort in my post.

(Transaxle rear case reinforcement sold separately)

The conversion is a good deal of work but fairly straightforward.  One thing I learned the hard way was to complete whatever work you have planned on the clutch hydraulic master before installing the HB.  Work space is extremely limited!

I have been following your build. Very detailed and excellent pictures too...thanks for your efforts! I am familiar with TPC and will be reaching out to them on the HB. I have a manual steering setup so no hoses and fittings will be required. Thanks again.

Very nice. I just purchased and completed the HB install from TPC as well and my transmission plate is on the way. Nice projects but you have to be patient. Lol

Thanks for the kind words. I really enjoy recording my progress on the forum and I'm thrilled if it's helpful to someone else. For me it has been a long road so it helps me remember what I did too!

Regarding the HB, you definitely have a few less lines to be concerned with without PS.  Being a old Mopar guy, this whole concept of the HB was new to me so I just followed the forum experts as my mentors!  All good guys!

Here is a link I found where some Ford guys discuss using an HB unit but without a PS pump / rack.  It's pretty interesting.

hlricks,

I definitely agree!!!

I've reconditioned my replacement 951 TA but I've been waiting on a 0.68 fifth gear set for over a month now.  Hoping to get it before Spring so I can make the swap, add the reinforcement plate, and install the TA.

I still have to rebuild my axle CV joints with new boots at least. Pretty sure the hardware is in good shape.

More patience please! Smile

If running a manual steering rack make sure you route the hydro boost high pressure out port back to the power steering fluid reservoir. Do not cap it off. The hydro boost unit only circulates fluid when the brake pedal is applied, it relies on the steering rack to provide an “unrestricted” path for the fluid.

Psc Motorsports makes some nice reservoirs for this purpose: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
