For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

single cooling fan to twins
so I am swapping a 5.3 into my 83 944 and I have the single cooling fan set up. now I bleve that I can use the stock ls ecu to run the fans but I will need to do something about the wiring and relays. I have no problem with making my own stuff but would like some help on how to do so?
i found this on a different post and am not sure if it is basically what I need to do or if there is a better way. should mention that I am using some aftermarket fans.

Re: single cooling fan to twins
There is plenty on info regarding this on the site including schematics if you search around.
Basically you have two choices. Use the stock relays or build your own relay/fuse block. The gm ecm provides the ground on the signal side of the relays for high and low speed operation using the ect sensor. If you go the stock route, you tap into the fan wiring that uses the porsche thermo switch in the radiator and stock relay setup. I choose to build my own block replicating the stock gm 3 relay setup.

Nice summary, Leva.
I went the other way and left the stock fans, relays and thermostat. Works fine!

Thanks leva do you have any of the information that you use to make the wiring or can you point me in the right direction? Also what gauge wire did you use?

Re: single cooling fan to twins
I used 16 gauge on the signal side and 10 gauge on the power side. Enclosed everything in a weather proof block i found on amazon for 15 bucks.

Thanks I will try and wire something up. And that looks like the same fuse block I used for my ecu.

That’s very nice! I have a question if you lowered your sub-frame what did you do about the steering shaft?
And are you using porsche fans and radiator?

Yes, using the stock radiator and fans.
If you lower the subframe with the spacers, you just use smaller diameter bolts in the steering shaft joints/couplings to accommodate the small length difference.
