HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

May sell Conversion
I’m considering selling my conversion due to my age. I may keep it and continue modifications but the fun of crawling around is reduced as you get older. It would be a great baseline for further modification as it’s mostly all functional and has been very reliable. I raced SCCA for years and bought used equipment for about 50% of what it would cost to buy new. A quick review/ rebuild of each car was completed before racing them but it was always a big savings. I have an itemized list of parts at ~$26k I’m ok with any reasonable price- any idea what a good price might be will be appreciated.
Summary
1986 944 Turbo with 102k 4K after conversion
Momo steering wheel
JVC stereo with power amp and sub woofer
2.5 in dual Stainless exhaust with crossover
17 x8 front, 17x10 rear Cup 2 replica wheels
Fr 245/45 ZR17 Rr 245/40 ZR17 BFG Comp 2 with 3k miles
New basecoat clearcoat paint - decent but not perfect
New body seals
Nice carpet and floor mats
Dash cover
I did all the conversion and have pics
2002 Camaro engine with 50k miles
TPC instl package including:
AC
Hyd power brakes
Tilton clutch MC with strut brace
TPC oil pan
VSS kit
Powder coated Tubular manifold
Painless wire harness
LS to 944 water temp sensor
Oil pressure kit
HTOB throw out bearing
2 piece Corvette bell housing

I'm interested in purchasing. PM me if you can / what you're looking to sell for.
Has it been on the track for the 4k miles since the conversion?

Conversion
I have not had it on the track. It was always going to be just a play car. I missed working on a car when I sold my last race car. My wife did not like the seating position and seldom goes with me so if I could get enough to be able help buy a play car with better seating for her I would do it. If my thinking about 50% is close I'd sell it. That would be about $13k. That's not a hard number but it would need to be pretty close. I can certainly provide more info- what I was at least hoping was some thoughts on a reasonable price.
thanks
Bob

Conversion
Sounds like a great build. I'd send you a PM, but I'm in the same situation of not having enough posts in order to PM. Looks like you're only about 8 hours drive from me. Have trailer, can travel! Can you send me a PM?

Re: May sell Conversion
I'm also possibly interested. This is my first post, so I cannot PM. I'm in Idaho, and have purchased cars requiring shipment or travel before. Most recent was a 1998 M3 that I had shipped from MI that was listed on the GRM forums. Send me a PM and I'll reply with my specifics.
EDIT: To make it easier, here is a temporary phone number you can reach me at: xxx-xxx-xxxx.

I am interested as well but don't have 5 posts so I can't PM you. Email is [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]. I hope that's legal to list here. Looks like there are a few folks in front of me, but if the car is still available, please contact me.

I'm thinking $13k is on the low side...

Re: May sell Conversion
I'm out in CA, but would be willing to ship the car out (or maybe make a really fun road trip?!). I know there are several people in line in front of me, but if they fall through I'd love to talk to you about purchasing the car. It's very close to what I want to build myself so it would be a great head start and I'd simply sell my stock 86 turbo (if you're interested in staying in the 944 family but not such a modified car?).
It appears I've been a lurker for years but not much of a poster so I can't PM yet. Feel free to email me btollgaard at gmail dot com if you don't mind.
Thanks,
Bret

Conversion
It has a good home now and my wife will be happier on trips. Ordered an M2 Competition yeterday afternoon. It wont be the same but domestic tranquility is worth something.......Thanks, this forum is the best!

Re: May sell Conversion
I'd love to hear your comparison... My wife has a similar opinion that prevents her from enjoying our time in the 968 (swapped, of course) as she should. I'm also very interested in the m2c, so your wife's input on seating and your input on driving as compared to a swapped transaxle porsche would be invaluable.

Re: May sell Conversion
As someone who is lurking on this forum with the thoughts or purchasing an already converted car, I also would be interested in hearing feedback on what makes the converted 944 less comfortable for the passenger. My wife is OK with my current toy (e36 m3 - all stock), even on trips of a couple hours each direction.

Re: May sell Conversion
Gala, on of my wife's issues is the legs-outstretched position. Makes for great driving, but not great sitting, as it doesn't have much thigh support and that is one of her pet peeves. We had an e46 330 for a while and an e91(RWD 6mt of course) right now and both of those were fine. The Porsche is just more of a pure sports car. Once I adjusted the seat as far up in front as possible, it took the edge off for her but its jsut not ideal. Then again, once we are bombing around the roads of NW Arkansas then all is forgiven -- she loves that part as much as I do.

Thanks much for the feedback! That makes sense now that you mention it. Maybe it's best if I look for a different toy... appreciate the feedback!
