For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

LS2 Aluminum 6.0 from 2005 GTO
I couldn't find any info on this when I searched so I figured I would ask. I have a 85 N/A 944 and have a lead on a GTO that was wrecked. I can get the motor/computer/accessories relatively cheap but can't find much information regarding this motor being used by others. I know there are differences regarding the belt spacing and accessory location between the LS2 application on the GTO and the Corvette. My question is would any of these differences cause fitment issues into my 944? Does anyone know other reasons why this does not seem to be a common swap or issues I would run in to? Thanks in advance.

the alternator would be the only thing i could see causing an issue, its mounted low on the drivers side and may interfere with the steering rack. aside from that, the engine is the same as any other gen 3 ls, swapping it will be no different than any other swap.

ls2 gto
I have a ls2 gto automatic. I am in the process of buying parts to put into my 968. I need the manual flywheel for my motor, clutch setup etc. keep me posted on when you start your conversion, and maybe we can do it at the same time.

GTO setup worked without any problems. A/c does not fit. Will have to get smaller compressor. I put the ecu under the passenger floor where the Porsche one was.

LS2 Aluminum 6.0 from 2005 GTO
Thanks guys. After reading your replys, I went to check it out. The motor ended up not being the original and had been replaced with an iron block. I ended up going with an aluminum 5.3L that I was able to pick up for very cheap from a friend so I know its history better.

gto oil pan
did the stock gto oil pan work? or did you have to cut and weld the pan to fit the crossmember?

No stock pan will work in the 944. There are aftermarket pans available specifically for an LS in a 944.
