For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

I am about done with my swap and my trans won’t shift into reverse. Shifts into forward gears fine. I can shift into reverse with the engine off but not with it running. It just grinds. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like your clutch is not releasing far enough to get it in reverse. What clutch master cylinder are you using? Most of the cars i've built required the larger master that Kent sells to actuate the clutch enough.

I had the CNC 7/8” but could not get it to work. I just installed a 7/8” Wilwood compact master and it works great in forward. Just not reverse. It sounds like the clutch is not even pressed in at all when I try to go to reverse.

Do you have any free-play in the pedal when its fully extended? If not, this could keep the master cylinder from filling completely. Need about 1/16 to 1/8" free-play

Yes there is a little play in the end fully extended. The clutch grabs about 1” or so off the floor.

Did you check to the throwout bearing depth? (Ie: shims)

That's grabbing too close to the floor. Means you aren't getting enough travel for some reason. Clutch should start grabbing about a third to halfway off of the floor. What bellhousing and throwout bearing are you using?

I am using the GM throw out bearing from TPC. Corvette C5 2 piece bellhousing. LS2 pressure plate and ACT GM015 pressure plate.

Hmmmm, You shouldn't have to shim that TO bearing at all. I've had one car that I had to re-drill the clutch pedal and move the rod down about 1/2". This was the only cure I could make work for that particular car.

I have had a lot of issues like this. I will take the lower bellhousing off tomorrow night and see how much separation I am getting with the clutch fully engaged. I am at my wits end trying to get this done. One problem after another bit getting closer.

Yeah, It seems like every time I build one of these cars, it's always a different set of issues. No 2 cars are alike for some reason.

So I measured the movement and the throw out bearing is moving about .6” but the pressure plate is only moving about .060”. I can spin the clutch but it seems like it needs a little more room to move freely. I am concerned that everything is right and I have a bad part. Any ideas?

Adapter alignment? Maybe the disk is binding slightly? Maybe try loosening the adapter bolts and starting the car, then tighten everything back up.

That is a good idea, I will try tonight. If it is in a bind at the top, I would not be able to see that from the bottom. Will let you know what i find out.

I have seen a few warped discs. That might be your issue.

I had the flywheel turned before installation, new disk (although could be bad as you suggest), and the pressure plate was one I had from another project with almost no miles on it. Will try the alignment tonight and see what happens, but certainly open to other ideas. Certainly appreciate the ideas.

Spence you are the man I put it on the lift. Loosened the adapter bolts and torque tube bolts. Lowered it a little to put upward pressure on the whole system. Tightened it all back up and it now shifts like it is supposed to. Thank you so much. So glad I didn’t have to take all that crap apart again. I owe you a case or beer.
