For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Torque Tube Heat - What is Normal?
I have very few miles on my car in general, but I've been messing with my shifter and linkage due to my 01E swap. After a couple mile drive, I parked the car and took the shifter out of the console. In doing that, I noticed the hole area was quite warm. The passenger side seat belt buckle bolt was also hot to the touch. I'm wondering if this is common, or I potentially have some bearings in the torque tube going bad and making an abnormal amount of heat... I have dual 2.5" exhaust, so I imagine that adds in a lot of heat compared to stock.

i noticed the same thing on my car a while ago, had to adjust the shifter after i had driven the car for a while and found it was quite warm around the tube and tunnel. my exhaust it tucked up as close to the torque tube as i could get it, and i really doubt much air is getting up into that area to dissipate heat, so i didnt think much of it.

That's good to hear then, I was a little surprised. I didn't think the bushing on the shifter would take much heat, but it seems to be in fine shape.

It's normal. There is a lot of heat there, mainly from the exhaust.
