HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

SO...

After putting my engine in the car, we found the crank was seized...

So after taking it all back apart, there were witness marks on the bellhousing where it had contacted the pressure plate, causing the rotating assembly to bind.

...

I am beyond confused. The flywheel, clutch, pressure plate and bell housing came from TPC in a kit. Yet they don't fit together!?! WHAT???

...

If anyone has had this issue, and knows the solution, please let me know!

Thank you!!!

- James

UPDATE: SOLVED:
It turns out there was an issue with the sand casting for a small batch of bell housings. The only solution is to take about 1/16" off the contact spots with a grinder.

UPDATE2:
Turns out they forgot to send me the spacer plate...

Matt,

I am using a L33 5.3L from a Chevy Silverado. And i had specifically let TPC know that before i bought the kit.

I am not aware of any spacers. I installed the flywheel directly to the crank itself.

Is there any specific picture i can take, to help diagnose this issue? Although i don't want to remove the flywheel, because those expensive ARP bolts are one-time-use only.

Thanks for your help!!!

Sincerely,
James

that was my first thought as well, but the l33 wont have the long crank (only the 6.0l with cast iron heads had the long crank) and it also shouldnt have ever had a crank spacer with that engine as the l33 never got mated to a 4l80e, at least not in a factory application. if the back of the crank flange close to flush with the rear main seal its the way it should be, if it sticks out roughly .400" then its got a spacer or has the long crank.

ive never heard of any ARP bolts being one time use. one of the reasons people buy them is because they can be used multiple times without replacement.
