HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

I am not sure what styles of rims came out for 944.

I have been looking online but the biggest ones are turbo twist and cookie cutters. I am just curious, i am running the black 15" rims.

I've decided on those Miro 371's post swap. I've found them pictured on a 944, and they say they'll hook you up with everything you need for 87 and up. Here I am again, stuck with an 86NA. Damnit. I'd prob source the wheels themselves myself and buy or make adapters, I'm just all freaked out about brakes and fitment issues w/those on the car to even begin worrying about what kind of wheels will fit. Regardless I think these are the sickest non OEM wheels I've seen on these cars..

If you scroll down to the 371 you can see them offered as a kit here:

I don't remember what year of car you ended up with, but i think factory Porsche wheels are the best combination of price, quality, weight, and looks.
I've found a bunch of nice looking aftermarket wheels, but unless you spend a couple grand on the wheels alone, they're heavy and made in China.

I don't think that going to the biggest rim possible is necessarily a good idea. With this much power a little sidewall is a good thing. The only reason to go that big would to be able to find wheels wide enough. Most custom stuff is a couple of grand or you could get factory Porsche wheels but I wasn't able to find 17" Porsche wheels wide enough. Actually, ZR1 replicas seem like a decent option, they are 17" which is good, they are 9.5" and 11" wide which is perfect, they're only $125 each on discount tire, and they only weigh #27 rear, 25.5# font, which isn't epic but isn't that bad either. It'll get enough rubber on until you can afford some CCW's or something. You'll just have to use some mild spacers/adapters. Thanks to xschop for suggesting the ZR1's
