For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

LM7 unexpected problems
I cant seem to find a good answer to this question,
For the people who have done the LM7 944 swap, what are some of the things that were unexpected problems? I kinda want this swap to go as smooth as possible and according to some people who have done the swap, my parts list is pretty accurate. But, i want to try and avoid any “common” unexpected problems.
Thanks

Re: LM7 unexpected problems
the long block externally is the same as any other ls, making any issues the same as with any other ls swap. the only real tips i can give you arent 944 specific, just things ive noticed doing truck engine based swaps
-most truck engines come with a block heater, its best to pick up the big plug to remove it, its a specific gm part. the block heater can get in the way, especially if your running an aluminum truck engine.
-mock your accessory drive up before the engine is in the car. iron blocks generally are missing a couple bolt holes used to attach some accessory drives on, you need to make sure you can bolt your stuff on properly, or drill and tap the holes that are missing.

Well, what should i do for the F-body as well? I think im going to the junkyard to check out a few Gen 4 firebirds and see if theres still stuff on them this weekend. Is there anything i should try to pull off of them?

well, going from a truck engine, your going to need an ls1/ls6 complete intake manifold with injectors and fuel rails, and complete front end accessory drive. also if you dont yet have a computer and wiring harness the f-body is a good candidate for one to modify.

Re: LM7 unexpected problems
Well, can anyone point me in the right direction about assembly of this engine? Since i went with an LS4 intake alot of the lines change if im not mistaken? Also, what about fuel lines and Evap lines?

Re: LM7 unexpected problems
I capped the Evap lines. The fuel line I made with steel braided fuel line. One end a compression fitting to tie into the line coming from the gas tank. The other end has the quick release fitting for the fuel rail.
