When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Re: forum icons
I talked to Kent last week about the quote and comment buttons being gone as well. Apparently Photo Bucket took it upon themselves to remove all that with the intent of making Kent pay for their services. I believe he went with a different company now, so some things won't be the same as before.

Re: forum icons
yea i noticed some of those things were different. i wouldnt ever have thought that icons on the forum would be hosted in photobucket and hotlinked to the forum.
seems photobucket is on a mission to kill the internet with starting to charge people for high traffic accounts and hot linking. most of the forums im on have lost a great deal of tutorials and how to threads because all the pics are now dead. in fact, a good 70% of the pics on those forums are dead because photobucket was so popular.

Re: forum icons
Got it .. it is a photobucket thing. I might be able to host the icons and back end pics if needed. Drop me a PM or email.
My business providing technology services for small businesses, cars are a hobby, and it would be nice to have the forum working again.

Re: forum icons
OK folks,
investigating the Icons on the forum and the lost pictures.
Here is what I know as of now.
1) Some of the icons are/were hosted on photobucket. This goes back to 2009 and were under an account of another member. So I have to replace these with other ones and need to create/find other icons. Bear with me on that.
2) Lost pics. Any user who hosted their content on Photobucket and did not upgrade has a dead link to those pictures. I am trying to find a way to figure out who some of the larger contributors were for the pictures and reach out to them and see if we can somehow backdoor a fix. Hope for the best.
3) is you were a large poster if pics, let me use XChop as an example, please reach out to me if you have copies of them.
4) as you find any other icon/photo/add issues, please use this thread to let me know.
Thanks

Re: forum icons
Well, it wasn't just the heavy users that Photobucket cut off. I'm using less than 2% of the free storage space allotted to me but they cut off all my hot linked pics.
I don't have an issue paying for a service, what I have an issue with is what they're charging. They want $400/year to hotlink. Given that I'm using such a small amount of space, I feel that's outrageous.
So, I haven't paid it and I don't plan to. That's an issue with my build thread here and on Rennlist though, as those threads are HUGE. It would take me hours and hours to go through the threads, figure out which pictures I have where and re-link them all.
Sadly, I'm just not going to do that...

Re: forum icons
I've started uploading to Imgur, since that seems to be one of the few sites left that will allow it without a fee.
Fortunately, if people keep their albums on photobucket public, then we can still view the photos, but without any sort of description or direction. It's not a complete solution, but if people know what they are looking for, they can sift through and find what they need.
