HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Has anyone swapped a honda engine?
I was thinking about a 4 cilynder engine swap that would have lots of potential and be reliable. I was wondering if anyone tried to swap in an f20c engine from an s2000 or maybe a k20A from an RSX? This engines are reliable and have tons of aftermarket support, also I think the NA transaxle would be able to handle their power good since this engines are low on torque unlike with a V8 swap I would not have to get a new transmission to handle the power and torque.

Re: Has anyone swapped a honda engine?
i dont think anyone has. one thing to keep in mind that the honda f20 is very tall. it does have the fact its mounted on a bit of an angle in the s2k working in your favor. you will likely have problems with the intake manifold interfering with the master cylinder. add in a custom bellhousing, motor mounts, oil pan, etc.
i have a chevy ecotec 4 cylinder in my 944, it was no piece of cake to get in thats for sure, i think an ls swap from scratch would have been easier.

I guess the V8 swap would be more cost efective then? How hard was your ecotec swap?

If the intake manifold is on the way, I can always go with an ITB setup to fix that problem

the other option would be to run a floor mounted pedal assembly from tilton or wilwood. more than one way to solve that potential problem.
really the feasability of it depends on how much work you can do yourself, and if you have the contacts to farm out the work you arent able to do. the way i look at it is go into the project knowing nothing is going to be easy, and everything needs to be modified to make anything fit. as long as your ok to cut up pretty much anything its completely feasable.
oh, and plan on having a hole in the hood, or a scoop.

I have a running Honda k24 in a 944, I have a few more things to finish before a test drive though.
I do have a thread here about it but have not updated it recently

Manual or auto? And did you use hondata, link, squirt? I have lots of questions! I don’t want to bother you, but would love a handful of details on trans choice and engine management etc

I am still running the manual Porsche transaxle. The engine is running on an AEM Infinity, you can run them pretty easily on a stock ecu and harness but I wanted tuning capability for a future turbo.
I have converted to manual brakes and steering for space. Everything is basically built specific for this swap, not much has been bolt in.
Heres the first quick drive on the road.
