The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Fluid for Hydroboost
I'll be using the Turn one pump, Ford Hydroboost, and of course the Porsche rack for my conversion.
According to Alldata the booster and rack are supposed to use ATF. Alldata also says the stock GM pump
is supposed to use GM power steering fluid.
What kind of fluid are people using and what set-up are they using it with.
Thanks in advance, this is a great forum. No BS, just good useable info and interesting tales of other sick people and thier adventures of creating a car that for all intents and purposes you can't just go out
and buy. It's like a frikin support group.

Turn one recommends the ATF I believe. I have used both without any problems, If you use regular power steering fluid and the pump makes noise try ATF, it seems to run quieter.

I'm using Royal Purple power steering fluid with no issues.

Thanks for replys. I think I'm going to use Amsoil ATF and see how it works,
since I have plenty of that at the shop already. And it's almost free to me.

Re: Fluid for Hydroboost
I asked Turn1 if it was safe to use ATF, they said any name brand synthetic ATF is fine. I was using PS fluid previously with no issues; the rack blew out on my track day over the weekend.. when i replace the rack ill refill with a synthetic ATF.
I dont think the PS fluid was to blame, the rack was original with 130k miles so it was probably bound to happen eventually.

Hate to reopen a 3 year old thread but it looks like its half and half of power steering fluid and atf. I just bought the Mustang hydroboost from TPC. What fluid is everyone using?
