HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

How to clean out your garage!
Ok so last week day before labor day I got a notice in the mail , get this to remove my abandoned vehicle('s) from my residence, the city ordinance officer (glorified dog catcher) sent me the notice in the mail did'nt even knock on my door. (Mind you I work for the same city as a Sgt on the Fire Dept).
I had the car insured and with a legal license plate, not good enough new ordinance it has to be running.
Basically I talked with this guy and all I have to say about him what an A""HOLE! basically it gave me a day to clean the garage and get the car in it, so I called the PD chief and he extended my time till the 14th.
So if you really need to clean your garage make sure you get a notice like I got, it will motivate you to get it done
After 2 12hour days it's finally in the garage.

I call it unsatisfactory! You piled too much stuff in front of the fridge! How do you get one of those cold refreshing, frustration easing beers out? I'll admit nice job though.

Re: How to clean out your garage!
Sounds like we have the same guy. When I first moved into my house the guy did the same to me, sent a warning. I had my Willys pick up next to the garage covered, and my 924 in the driveway also covered. I ended up putting my Willys in the garage along with the Super Beetle I had and my 944. (my garage is 22' x 22') I left my 924 where it was. He came back and said i needed to move my 924. I asked him if he actually looked at the car because it was licensed and ran. I told him I currently was not driving it because it was not insurred. I also told him that i wanted him to go down my street and notify everyone that had non running cars the same way and he said that he didn't need to.
I them told him that if he didn't I would file a complaint about all of the other cars and against him for discriminating against me because I had a Brazilian wife. He met me that day when I got home from work and told me I didn't need to get worked up about this. He than told me that I had an unusual house/garage because my garage is in front of my house which is technically not allowed and that was why I needed to move my cars. I ended up buying a portable shed from Harbor Freight Tools to put stuff in. He let me keep my 924 in the driveway but I still insisted that he go down my street and make everyone else move their cars.
I ended up getting rid of the 924, the Willys and the Beetle so I had space to work on my 944. Even so, my garage is still filled too much with just my 944. I only have one shelf section filled with parts that are not for my 944 and still I have very little space to work.
I bought my house in an unincorporated area so i wouldn't have this kind of trouble but I guess it doesn't matter. My lot is 1/2 acre and I can only build a garage for barely 3 cars.

Barely 3 cars , my garage is a car and half .
Sorry you had the same troubles as me though and good for you insisting for him to do his job since he felt so inclined to make you an example.
As far as the fridge I was tired had to have the car in the garage that nite (last nite literally) so I put things whereever I could to get it in.
I'll be redoing a few things for final fit and all.
But the majority of it is done.
P.S. Gotta love people who get a little power and they act like dicks and think their better then you.

What did they use to call them, Kegerators or something.? I would think that would take priority. Oh btw my neighbor has 8 cars in his yard. he only drives 2, and 1 has been on his front lawn for sale for about a yr now. Someone turns him in every once in a while or else the town does. He has 2 in portable tents and 3 covered with tarps. The sad part is 1 is a 641/2 mustang fastback which is just rotting away. He won't sell it, I asked. Another is a 63 corvair. Its a real shame. They are collector cars for someone.

Garage cleanup (where do I start)
I wish my place would take only a weekend. Got any pointers were I should start My Dad ran his business out of his van and used this place as storage for shop equipment and equipment being repaired. He has been sick with Lung cancer for the last year and this place has gotten messy.

Re: How to clean out your garage!
First sorry to hear about your dad, hope he has a speedy recovery from here on out.
Second wow I wish I had your problem and your garage!
All I can say is gets lots of tarps and friends and take everything out or push everything to one side of the garage, and start orginizing and putting everything back how you want it.
My guess is you don't live in michigan otherwise I would help out.
Best of luck to you on this one.

Thanks but he has passed the recovery point so it's quality of life at this point, and he is wanitng to tie up loose ends. As far as the shop goes I have his business partner comming to pickup his stuff hopefully this weekend (the guy has been retired for 3 years). So anyone need and air reels? I have 2 pallets of them or 3phase pumps?. So in the long term its gonna become a hobby shop since we have a new motorpark 10 mins down the street [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

In the spirit of helping out... just because I'm a nice guy, you understand... I'll take that home with me if you'll help me load it... say... $50?

Re: How to clean out your garage!
Two things.
#1: Now I don't feel bad about my garage at all!!!!! Yee haw! EDIT: even though mine is still worse than everything I've seen so far.
#2: You're one project away from the thing turning right back into what it was.
There really has to be a better solution.
