HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

924 with LS1 - but wait, there is more!
Hello all,
Decided I should introduce myself - my name is Jon; I have had my 924 for 16 years and about 5 years ago was fed up with the 4 cyl giving me trouble so I had Hitech Motorsport in Elk River Minnesota work their magic by installing a 99 Vette engine with a Ford 8.8 rear end in my car...
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
At the time the exterior was altered but it had it's wear and tear as you can see... and a fence at the event I went to wasn't so friendly on me either. So after a few months of planning (and I mean heavy though process, sketching, photoshopping, testing ideas) I took the car up to In The Works Auto Body in Ham Lake Minnesota and the end result is what you have:

Beautiful body work.
I like the reversal of the intake manifold…only wussies need a heater in Minnesota anyway.
Is that a pristine 5-window deuce coupe as well?…not as rare as a 3 window with the suicide doors but gorgeous nevertheless.

Very nice!
Where did that hood come from? Also, is that a pearl paint?

Fiberglass hood with a custom mounted hood scoop. Very custom but required due to the LSX intake manifold being higher up then a stock intake manifold.
Yup! Pearl paint! The car changes colors based on time of day and what it's next to (still being overall white):

Yeah, the reason for that is the intake manifold is higher then the stock engine thus we use this to allow cool air to run over the manifold; the actual manifold is flipped backwards and the air plumbing goes to where the battery originally sat. Isolated intake temps then!

It is a combination of two body kits; the wide body kit from [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and the 944 Turbo Kit (customized a bit as you see) from [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Re: 924 with LS1 - but wait, there is more!
About ready to take the car out for the year! Before doing so I need a brake upgrade, I really want XCHOPS conversion as I have the 944 NA brakes, how easy is it to get his adapters? I want to get those purchased ASAP!

Re: 924 with LS1 - but wait, there is more!
I agree, a truly amazing body.
Curious, does the 'late' 924 share the same 'early' 944 mechanical speedometer cable drive?
I purchased xschop's very limited edition billet hubs for the 944 'early' last year and I'm wondering if there is a electronic speedometer alternative to drilling out the left front spindle, allowing access for the mechanical speedo cable. I upgraded my 'early' to a complete '86 turbo front axle setup but I know the modified (drilled) left spindle is it's Achilles heel.
So, are you looking for the same billet hubs?
btw...I'm still drooling...any more info about that deuce coupe that is next to your car.?

That deuce coupe next to my car is a 34 I believe, not mine. Loved taking some photos of the car! I could sport it ;-)
Ohh my gosh I am blown away by xschop's work! I forget where the speedometer goes at the moment; I know its on the front wheels but unsure where. Up until now I've only visited 944hybrids but never really saw value... UNTIL RECENTLY! It took me 3 months to design my car on paper before committing to the now body design. Driveline was all done by Hitech Motorsport in Elk River, MN so I've gotten away from wrenching, just enjoying the turn key experience :-)

Very nice looking car. As another local working on a swap project, I'd love a chance to see yours first hand.

Sure! Where are you located? Perhaps we could arrive at a local car meet...
