HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

The car has been down a bit while I conjure up a big brake kit for it. Beforehand I destroyed the driver side wheel bearing/part of the hub at my last track day. So I decided to bolt up the 87+ hub(my car is an 86) and spindle I have in my storage unit and see how the 18x10 et 40 turbo twist 1's would fit. In the process I also decided to lower the coilovers as much as possible.

With the fender well shroud thing out and the camber plates and bolt maxed out I managed to get this. I'm aiming for about -3 degrees and I think this is close, let me know what you guys think.

I didnt see any rubbing issues, i may roll the fender a bit.

Great story and build! One question? What did you study in college and how did you get your job in Germany? In the summer I am moving there after I graduate and I want to get a automotive job there. I too fell in love with the Ring after my BMW Ring Taxi ride Very Happy

I studied mechanical engineering and got my job out of sheer luck (meeting the right people). Germany is hurting for engineers at the moment so you could have a good shot of getting a job there, but I will give a couple warnings. In germany(at least when i was there 3 years ago and from what I hear this is still the same) the bachelor/master system was just being introduced. However they did not do away with their diplom engineer degree which is equivalent to the BSME in the US. The only problem is that in germany the bachelors degree is a 2 year degree and they view it more as an associates degree. So finding a job there is usually a bit more difficult and entry level you will often be scoffed at as not being a real engineer(i got it all the time). If you work for a US or international company though your degree should be more respected. It sucks but thats just the way it is w/ the germans, they're very proud people Laughing

I've wanted to move back, but I know I will make more money/be more respected in the US. I dont want this to deter you from working/living in germany. The experiences I had and friends I made will last me a lifetime.

It might weigh less than that. Mine weighed 3000 lbs, and that's with pretty much a full interior with radio, A/C and a 90lb rollbar.

I bet it's significantly lighter than that. I believe mine was right at 3100 completely stock with spare etc....
