For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

    What's funny is the Vette pushrod V8 has more torque/takeoff than the V10 Porsche GT, it even looks like it stalls scratch

    Or as usual, people who drive those kind of Porsche's can't drive.

    IF you havent driven a CGT you WILL stall it the first few times... No doubt. It is a very strange feeling to release the clutch and NOT apply gas...

    audi V8 is way too wide, and the W8 might not fit between frame rails. its about 28" wide IIRC and the car is about the same. ive thought about it too, it would be awesome though

    The V6 Audi motor(AHA and ATQ engine codes, along with S4 2.7T) is much too wide for the frame rails. I just checked the other day. I can't possibly imagine that the W8 is any narrower.

    The Audi V8 uses a similar bellhousing pattern to the Audi 2.0 in the 924 and the Audi 5-cylinders.

    Also there is a Volvo diesel engine that is Audi based and would provide a better bellhousing for the Audi V8 swap.

    Considering the 928 motor fits better in the 924/944 engine bay than the 928 (there's about 2-3 inches more room side to side), I don't see why the Audi V8 wouldn't work.
