For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

It took me about 20 months to do but I finished. You can check it out in detail at the build blog ninas20vt
Now I'm tuning things and looking for a new coilover setup. Good luck to everyone with their swaps!

powaw, sounds very cool but could you fill us in on the engine? I really don't know anything about it, and I imagine there are others here in the same boat. 20V=20 valves? 5 cyl? HP? etc...

The whole build process is in the blog if you follow the link, but the short version is that I swiped the motor from an Audi s6. So now it has a 5 cyl turbo motor. I have boost limited right now while we are tuning the fuel injection. When in full effect the goal is 400hp. We'll have to stop there if we stay with the stock internals. I have gutted the car for autocross duty. It has a tilton minidisk with 8lb flywheel and a turbo lsd tranny. I made all of the parts for the car my self with the exception of the boss for the idler pulley and the spacer for the slave cylinder that I had a friend turn for me. Here is a pic of the engine bay.

Here is a pic from here first run last weekend after being scattered across the shop floor for the last 20 months. The old 2.5 na motor could never smoke the back tires. Hehe!

Looks like a very clean install. You even get to keep the vacuum assist on the brakes.

yea, I wasn't sure if they would function properly or not with the boosted setup up, but they are doing fine. I didn't have to change any of the brake related hardware at all. Other than using Hawk hp+ pads. The throttle body is relocated a bit (it was hitting the master cylinder) with the relocator tube between it and the manifold.

hi there great swap... could you email me at bearnigel at yahoo dot com,change the at and dot...i want to do this swap but there seems to be no kind of check lit that works??? do you know any one that would sell me an adapter plate or would you consider selling me one or the list of verything that you used...please reply to my mail...many thanks nige...uk...

Congrats powaw! I put a 20vt into an '85 urq years back. (Much easier as the factory did it for a couple of years.) At the same time a friend was building-up a 944 turbo. We spent many nights with beers and measuring tapes trying to figure out if the AAN would go into the 944. I'm glad to see it done.

The 924 bellhosuing matches the audi bolt pattern, if the flywheel is thick a spacer is needed this can be got from a C4 S4 or S6 or from a few later cars but not sure which...

Hello, I own a sweet 1977 924 that I want to swap an Audi 1.8L Turbo into. Eventually I want to fabricate some long travel suspension front and rear and Rally that bad boy. For now Im just concerned with swapping out that 2.0 NA that sucks pretty bad, I had a 92 ranger that was quicker. I have too many questions to list. I was hoping someone had some general build info they could swing my way. I want to run an upgraded turbo and camshaft that will push about 265ish HP and TQ. My questions surround the obvious mounting and transmission issues with the Audi motor as well as the braking and transaxle systems. Would a simple 944 brake upgrade handle the 265ish HP and TQ? Would I need to move up to the 944 Turbo for brakes, transaxle etc? Keeping my mechanical speedometer is also crucial for now before any serious rally plans happen. again any help on this swap is much appreciated

That seems to be a link to a UK based 1.8 RHD build.
