HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Pedal Mod Necessary with Wilwood 260-7563?
As the title says...
I see the instructions for moving the push rod mounting point up for the Tilton Dual MC 72-650 but is this mod required for the Wilwood 260-7563?

Hey Blue, you should redrill the pedal upwards by 0.75" on the single MC
And you need the 260-7563 ....FYI

Thats what I have. just a typo. I'll fix the subject title. And you need the 260-7563 ....FYI
Thanks guys. I thought this was the case but as I was looking around I was only seeing reference to the dual Tilton MC.
Re: Pedal Mod Necessary with Wilwood 260-7563?
You will need the extra fulcrum force when you stick on a larger bore MC to accomodate larger pistom calipers, Single or Dual MC. Let us know how your setup works. What calipers you gonna run?

Thanks X.
I plan on running the stock 951 calipers. I havent read anyone having trouble with these. Have you?

There have been two positions recommended for the relocation of the pivot point, .75 and I believe 1.4. 1.4 would provide less pedal effort, I have two brake pedals (thanks to my parts car, which I would rather still have on the road, but that's another story). I am starting with the 1.4, I have big blacks up front, with 993TT rotors, (both are huge!) and 968 M030 rotors out in back, with 968 front calipers (same as late turbo and S2). I am using the dual master setup, with the bias bar, and I have a adjustable bias valve for the rear circuit too. Overkill? Probably, but infinitely adjustable. I know the rear M/C was spec'd at 1 inch according to Wilwood, can't remember if the front is 3/4 or 13/16. Anyway, I'll be reporting on how this setup works, my 89 had the 968 brake setup, with a 928 bias valve, and that was a really sweet setup. With the insane extra HP of the LS1, and a bit more weight, I may have went a bit overboard, but I have some MPH goals in mind, and I'd like to be able to slow down quickly

You know, I hear this often. It perplexes me. It is reported that the weight difference between the stock 951 and the LS1 conversion are very similar. Also, the 951 has a respectable top speed. Why then is it that the stock 951 brake set up is not regarded very highly?
I have a 1986 and it is a bit of a PITA to convert to late offset as the choices for the early offset brake set ups (I believe) are limited.
I guess at some point I can consider upgrading but I think I will go with the stock now. Still not sure what to do with proposioning valve but have been considering the 928.

The 951 brake setup is great, same as the 968, which I ran in an 89 NA, loved it, untill a jerk took me out from behind. 120 foot skid and totalled my 89, he was going 90-100 in commuter traffic on a cell phone, before he braked, I spent a day in the hosptial and 9 months until my back healed, told you it was another story! I'm addicted to really good brakes, so I can come into a corner at crazy speeds, and late brake. My goal is to achieve straight away speeds a bit higher than the 951, been up to 150, would like to hit 185, personal goal that I hope doesn't kill me! Would really like to hit 200!

pistons
Hey 87, what are the piston sizes in those "Big Blacks" and the 968 calipers?
So you are keeping the 1" MC on the rear circuit. I will be watching what you wind up for the front.
Nothing is wrong with the Turbo brakes Blue, definitely better than the NA stuff.
Just with manual brakes, the bigger the rotor/caliper, the better. Why hasn't someone put in a vacuum booster in the stock battery location? Vette C5 or 95 mustang booster fits in there.

Re: Pedal Mod Necessary with Wilwood 260-7563?
Hi X,
The big blacks are 44/36, they have a huge surface area for the brake pad (the caliper is 13 inces or so long). The 968s are 40/36, both 4 piston. The recommended from M/C is 3/4 inch. I just ordered a remote bias adjuster, the A/C line and some cabling were in the way of the adjuster knob. Heading out to the garage for what I hope is the final install of this setup, will post pics when complete.

I just dremeled a screwdriver slot in the top of the adjuster balance rod.....fixed that headache.
You should be on the money for the 3/4" then. I'm surprised Tilton didn't also quote you wrong on the MC size (5/8").

Re: Pedal Mod Necessary with Wilwood 260-7563?
You guys are killing me. I just talked myself out of swapping to late offset. No I have to reconsider!! I have no intention of hitting the speeds that 87-944S is talking about. I will be doing a lot of street driving and backroad burning. I doubt that I will wver see a track. I have driven cobra replicas with manual brakes and it took a few mimnutes to get use to the feel of the manuals. I cant recall teh caliper / rotor set ups.
Re: Pedal Mod Necessary with Wilwood 260-7563?
Go with what you have first then if it isn't enough, upgrade. If you have the early turbo brakes I bet they will be just fine for fast street driving with a manual setup. Don't make things harder than they need to be. The right brake pads make a huge difference in performance.
The smallest power brake booster I could find is 7 inches. Would that clear the valve cover and coil pack?

Won't clear the driver's rear cylinder head, but can be modded to go in the factory battery spot, pipe in a MC on the rear of the booster that has a same size on the firewall, then replumb the brake lines...A few of the BMW's have relocated Vacuum boosters.
