HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

I have a "H" vacuum valve to control the LS heater coolant loop and the 928 heater core loop. I am going to attempt to keep the stock 928 radiator for my build. The original 928 coolant return line turns into a hard pipe along the inner passenger fender that has a T in it for the the coolant reservoir to fill the system. Do I keep the coolant reservoir T'd into the LS heater return line or do I plumb this reservoir fill port to the top of the 928 radiator's vent port instead?

My LS oil pan requires a remote mount oil filter. Should I plumb the 928 radiator's oil cooler into this system or will this cause cooling issues?

LS Heater / Radiator / Reservoir Plumbing Empty Coolant res

Post  ynbad Mon Jun 11, 2012 8:17 pm

I used the factory res and tie in on the heater hose the res fit in the factory position and was the easiest way without many modifications. As far as the oil cooler. I think the cooler is not nessasary and to hard to deal with.

I read somewhere recently, in my google searching, in a LS1 swap article that they plumbed the coolant reservoir into the water pump heater return. You also just confirmed this, thanks.

I really do not like the fact that the oil cooler is part of the radiator in the 928. There are known issues with the radiator failing and water or oil ending up in the wrong place. I gather the LS motors do not need one unless the intent is to track the car. It just feels like a waste since it is there. Another nice upgrade I can do later when I get the cash is to replace the radiator to make the oil cooler delete cleaner.
