HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Why would you disable ABS? Dedicated track car?

Re: Disable ABS.
My wheels wont work with a late offset car so I'm swapping my early front suspension and replaceing the late setup on my S2. At least I think the wheels will not work. I really don't want to recut adapters for the Lexus brakes and rotors. Also I just bought Koni adjustables all around and don't want to loose them. Can the late struts be modified to an insert style strut?

Yes, I used the Koni kit from Paragon Products, with adjustable shocks.

Re: Disable ABS.
See that does not fix my issue. I already have koni's and do not want to spend more money on replaceing them.

Re: Disable ABS.
Why don't you stick Late spindles on the Early struts?
I'm running them. Heck you have the RX7 arms with Early and Late offset positioning already.

Let say for instance I do that, what would be the difference between the late and the early (except for the obvious ABS etc) Also how are people connecting the late style fuel fittings to the fuel rail.

Re: Disable ABS.
The RX7 arms allow me to run LATE offset (+29mm than Early) with the modded EARLY struts (replaceable strut inserts) and Late Spindles (stronger and rotor bolts to front as opposed to EARLY spindles). Bluemach just asked a question earlier and I told him that the spindle of choice would be 87-up NA spindles as they are the strongest and easiest to make adapters for bigger calipers, even better than Turbo or M030......ALOT cheaper to get too!

Re: Disable ABS.
I am (sadly) not running ABS because of my tire size difference. ABS requires no more than a 1-2% tire size difference to function. My front tires are 225/40-18's and my rears are 285/35-18's (approximately a 4% difference, IIRC). Anyways, i decided that gas mileage and engine RPMs were more important to me than ABS, so away it went....

Re: Disable ABS.
To disable the ABS light, disconnect the T40 connector under the dash on the passengers side.
It has 4 wires:
1 - 1.0 RE/WT - goes to N7 Stop light
2 - 1.0 BK/GN - Fuse 19
3 - 0.5 BK/GR - Central electric D45
4 - 0.5 WT - J16 Indicator lights Instrument cluster

Re: Disable ABS.
Thanks. Life saver. Does the cruise control use the abs sensors like my mazda or the transmission speed sensors?

Re: Disable ABS.
Cruise must use the tranny sensor or something else, I have cruise, but no ABS on my 87944S.

Re: Disable ABS.
944-LT1: that doesn't work on mine!
In fact, when i went under there to unplug it, it was already unplugged. Just for the heck of it i threw the relay in there with it unplugged, and it made the ABS pump wind up. Unless it's possible there's more than one of those plugs under there....? (Oh, and i tried plugging it in, too!)
As it happens i'm actually using that red/white as a switched power source for my ignition stuff, works great!

There could be another connector down there. But if the wire colors match, that should be the one.

Re: Disable ABS.
I'll check the colors tonight. It may also be something that disconnecting simply isn't enough (i.e., the light wire needs to be grounded in order to extinguish the dash light).
This is the last light left on my dash before the ! goes away, i'm so excited!

Re: Disable ABS.
D'oh! My bad.
I was using the white wire as a trigger for my main power relay, so that's why it didn't matter whether that connector was plugged in or unplugged.
I cut that connection off and used the airbag power to switch instead, and the light went right out!
So thanks, 944-LT1, you were corrrrrrect!
