HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Oil lines - clearance with header
Hi,
Looking for advice regarding routing of oil lines to/from the remote filter.
Using the Moroso pan, ceramic headers and remote oil filter kit as purchased from 944v8.com.
Filter is mounted drivers side front.
Lines routed over the crossmember & steering rack
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Even with insulation wrap, the lines are very close to the header. Anyone have a good solution to suggest for re-routing the lines? I was thinking of trying to find a longer 90deg for the rear-most line in order to stack them and run them along the pan.
Thank you,
Dan.

Yeah you're going to have to fix that. That is dangerously too close. You should have a hydro shop make some hard tube extensions to bring the 90's down so the polymer lines are away from the header.....and wrap everything.

The answer is in your question. Longer AN fitting for the rear.
You should Dremel your collector a bit.

Re: Oil lines - clearance with header
Just what I thought - much appreciated advice gentlemen. I figured that would be an issue common to anyone using that pan/line combination.
I have a nice little list of stuff to pick up from the hydraulics shop. Thankfully there's one here in Portland and the counter guys are cool about helping me figure out how to make things work.
I'll post a photo once that's sorted out.

Re: Oil lines - clearance with header
Definitely post pics of your find. I have the Modded Hooker 2312 headers and they clear the oil lines by a mile, but I wish I had -10AN long tubes to the 90 degree bends to make installing them alot easier. I Had to cut a brand new 1" open end wrench down to a stubby to get in there

Resolution
Hi,
Found a reasonable solution for those with the remote oil filter setup, Moroso pan and S&P header combination.
The oil filter relocation kit from 944v8.com comes with 2x 90deg AN10 fittings for connecting to the Moroso pan. I replaced the rearmost 90deg AN10 fitting with a 45deg fitting.
This makes it possible to keep the oil lines tight up against the oil pan and about 2" min from the collector. Seems like a reasonable solution based on the limited routing options available.
Will post a picture of this later today.
Thanks,
Dan.
