For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Not going for the "street sleeper" look?  Cool
I've seen all your parts but not many car pics.
Car looks great!

Nah, I've never really had luck with the magnetic stuff sticking to the car. Figured I'd just put the time trial numbers and other needed stickers on the car and never have to worry about it again.

Wanted to take the 948 to work today to start getting mileage on it, but when I was driving it around yesterday I noticed that the fans aren't keeping control of the coolant temps at low speeds.

They are coming on, but I'm not sure if both are coming on at "High" speed. How can I check the fan switch to make sure it's working?

Setup now is two 11" Spal fans, moving more air than my old single 16" Spal, so they should be more than adequate. When I had the car back in the spring, temps were under control, so something has failed...

Has MAC been the shop? The tuned my car last year and were great to work with...just a drive from Northern Colorado.

Yup. They've done great work on the car, just need to tie up a few loose ends here and do a final tune.

How are they wired? i.e. through the existing 944 relay and temp sender, existing relay and ecm or from ecm and standalone relay?
Both fans should be running on low speed and high.

944 fan switch and relay, controlled by the Camaro PCM. There's a low speed and high speed dual fan control through the PCM that I'm using.

So to confirm, both fans run together at either speed?
Have you checked that both fans are wired correctly and that they are both pulling air?

Electrical and simple mechanical problems aside....based on my experience the CFM of each type of fan can't be compared on paper alone. I measured the flow of various combos to determine what was best for my setup. I would suggest comparing to the two.
One other thing to note, assuming you are using a shroud to close off the other areas of the rad, the two 11" fans have less open area than one 16" fan....11 square inches less.

Not using a shroud, didn't on the single 16" fan either.

Didn't get a chance to work on the car yesterday, we had a huge rain/hail storm and I was busy dealing with a ground water issue that was trying to flood my basement. Then I worked on the brakes on my DD.

Hopefully today I can start to troubleshoot the fans on the 948...

Got the car final tuned today, running up into the limits of the cam right now.  Made 421rwhp and 410ft lbs of torque.  That's 50 ft lbs more torque than before and you can really feel it.  Huge gains under the curve, hitting the track tomorrow, can't wait to feel it.

Unfortunately my hood scoop/louvers showed up today, vs Wednesday like I needed them to, so I won't have time to install them.

I'm also having an issue with the Boxster ABS, light stays on no matter what, doesn't seem like the pump is cycling.  I'm beginning to wonder if I bought the wrong pump, anyone have the part # of the Boxster pump that they have up and running in their car?

Hit the track yesterday and had a good day shaking down the car. Motor ran great, no issues there! Could really feel the additional torque, even driving 6/10's I was easily bumping the rev limiter in 4th gear at 140+ mph on the back straight of HPR. Car pulls really well now! Suspension felt good, brakes were fine, but I need to figure out the ABS and get it working.

Water/oil temps are still a bit of a concern. The oil cooler needs to get moved down, right now it's mounted behind where the license plate mounts, but no holes were made behind it, so air can't flow through it. Rather than cutting up the radiator ducting behind the oil cooler I'd rather move it down, so it gets clean air completely through it.

Burped some air through the system on the track and the car runs very cool on the street and no longer gets too hot in street driving, even in traffic/idling. However on the track I'm still seeing 230F, I got the hood scoop and louvers, but they arrived late Friday, too late for me to install them.

Had a little smoke coming out the exhaust, but found that the shop had over filled the motor with oil. It did dissipate as the motor shot the excess out the exhaust. I'll check the level today and suck some out the dipstick tube with my Griot's oil evacuater if need be. Full on my car is half way up the hash marks, shop filled it to the top of the hash mark.

Plan is to install the scoop/louvers this off season, move the oil cooler down and get the ABS working. Everything else seems to be working well now.

Little carbon fiber pron here. Car is going to the shop late this coming week to move the oil cooler, install the carbon fiber bits and hopefully get the ABS working.

Decided just to use the hood louvers for now, the hood scoop actually sits down inside the hood some and I just don't have the clearance with my intake.

So if someone is interested in the hood scoop, let me know.

Also decided to go with the largest oil cooler core I could fit, we are moving it down some, which should free up more space for a larger core.

Then gotta wire up the alternator wire to the Porsche harness, hopefully that'll energize the ABS relay and then the ABS will work. Then get the car through smog, then wrap up a few loose odds and ends and it should be pretty damn solid.

At least until I break something at the track! Twisted Evil

I trimmed the back lower piece to accommodate the intake. Then paint the intake black and you don't really see it.

Figure I'll see how much of a difference the hood vents and larger oil cooler core make, then go from there....

Still working on punching the holes in the hood!

Finally found that wire that needs to get hooked up to the alternator so the ABS will work. Rich was a great help in letting me know where it should be and what color it is.

Turns out somebody in the past not only cut the connector off, but cut the wires off flush to where they head into the wiring loom, so they were almost invisible.

Looking forward to finally getting the ABS working in the car!

Getting there!  Hood vents are done.  I'm going to have to paint the bolt and heim joint on the strut brace black, it's showing through on the drivers side vent...

Currently working on the fabrication to mount the much larger Fluidyne oil cooler, plus making proper shrouding for the radiator.

Then it's finally wiring up the ABS trigger wire from the alternator, wiring past the alarm so the rear hatch key lock will work, rebuilding the rear brake calipers and getting the car through smog testing.  Whew!

Turn your radiator fan on, if you can feel the air being pushed out, you can pretty much be assured it will help.

Progress!  Alarm is wired past, need to get the car off the lift to see if the key works in the rear hatch lock now.  Rebuilt the rear calipers, seals looked like they were originals.

Oil cooler is mounted and getting plumbed today.  Templates are made for the custom ducting.  After that it's wiring the one wire for the ABS to the alternator, then getting the car through smog.

Does that red/black striped ABS wire need 12V constant or 12V switched from the alternator

Car is hopefully going through emissions today, should be ready for pick up this Friday. Not sure if the ABS brakes work yet, but the warning light is no longer illuminated, so I have my fingers crossed...

First track day of the season is April 18th, so I need to get some street miles on the car to make sure all the off season work is fettled properly.
