HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

3 birds with on stone

Post  bp944 on Sun Jul 25, 2010 10:09 pm

3 problems, weight, clearance, air intake. Would a FG hood with FG hood scoop solve it all? I could set up a ram air intake for my 102mm intake setup. It would give me a bit of clearance for the intake that's far too big. It would also take down the weight of the hood by almost 30lbs. I'd like to get the car back to 50/50 ratio. Anyone tried something like this? I was thinking this hood scoop should do the trick. I want it to be subtle and not a gaping hole.

Couple things:
1. Fiberglass hood only takes off about 20lbs
2. No, that scoop won't help. The area that needs clearancing is the first 1' of the hood. The only hood mods i've seen that address the clearance problem are...well, honestly, hideous.

50/50 weight distribution sounds a lot cooler than it is. I've driven my car both ways, 50/50 and 53/47. Can't tell much, if any difference. Right now I sit at 50.5/49.5 which is damn close.

I like the added weight up front. Although I don't pinch pounds, I believe I've removed almost as much weight as I've put in with the iron block....No AC, No cruise control, lighter control arms, billet accessory brackets, lightweight battery....It is not as "bucky" as the stock 944 during hard takeoffs

How much power are you trying to get out of the motor?

These are really not a good chassis for making tons of power... I would be careful how much time and money you put into the motor, because you will not get it back out. Even with my (uncorrected, high elevation) ~290rwhp and 285 tires, traction is an issue. Stickier tires will break the axles, and stronger axles with break the transaxle.

If you have a lot of time to spare i would spend it making the chassis perfect, and forget about going wild on the motor.

^ Man, that's quite a car! I stand corrected, there IS a way to get these cars to hook!
