HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

differences in 1/1985 and 1986 turbo
I know there are some changes in the 944 over the years but never realized how much the two 944, 1/1985 and 1986 T, are different. I am looking at the engine bay as I finish removing the turbo motor.
For example, I realize the fuel lines run up the fender in a channel instead of up the firewall like the early.
I tried fitting the 15" fuch rims on but the offset hits the calipers before the rime settle on the hub, almost an inch off.
Does anyone know by looking which controls and spindles are on the car? I dont know the history of this vehicle but some performance upgrades have been noticed as I pulled the engine. So I was not sure if they upgraded any of the suspension.
All in all this turbo body looks like a better home for this LSx motor than the early ever did.

Is this normal for turbo cars? I found what I believe to be a reciever end to a tow hook in the middle of the bumper. How Sweet is this?!

yeah, all turbo cars have that. Its because the turbos dont have access to a tow point under the bumper (too close to the ground).
You can buy the eyelet that screws into that from the bay or pelican and such.

I was wondering about that when I first put the car on the trailer, atleast on the n/a you had a way to the tow hooks. I think that is just sweet, gives me a true sports car feeling. lol.

Hey Collin, you can buy a bolt and make your own tow tab out of whatever you want. I have a spare Turbo bumper insert that I didn't need since I went with Eric's smooth NA bumper mod.
As far as spindles, the Turbo cars have 94mm caliper ears.

Robert, I have been told that the 86 has different spindles than the rest of the turbo cars. I was confused by offset since my early tires wouldnt fit the turbo body, but realized its most likely the brake caliper being bigger is the main problem.
I am trying to find out what all is stock on this car still and how much has been modded.

The 86T has 94mm caliper ears but the smaller axle stubs and smaller wheel bearings like the EARLY NA cars. If you are not tracking the car, I wouldn't be concerned about it.

Ok, I might track occasionally at Hallett once the full suspension is done. But mostly a street driver.
