HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Hey,

I'm modifying and installing the Moroso oil-pan and I ran into a problem with the oil pickup. I was just curious how you handled this, I have some ideas but I don't have enough experience to be sure.

There seems to be some interference between the bracket of the pickup and the shield that goes under the crank. You can see what I mean in these pictures.

Thanks,

lol, I know the bracket doesn't just set on top like that. The thin splash pan (I'm not sure what it's called) doesn't have a large enough depression to accept the footprint of the bracket.

So it won't hurt to just put a hole right through the sheetmetal to make clearance? Just don't do it while it's on the engine Shocked

sorry, I didnt have that problem with the one I am using.

All that sheet metal is for is to keep oil from splashing into the rods and stuff like that, right? If thats the case a little hole or depression shouldn't hurt anything.

Is there not a way to modify the actual bracket to fit the splashe gaurd?

I think there is, and I would like to try that before I do anything to the engine. I'm pretty sure that I can grind the corners off of the bracket to get it to fit down in. But, I think you're right, it won't hurt to make a hole in the guard.

just double check the rod and bearing clearances to that spot on the sheild. They shouldn't be real close but if you cut a hole to insert the bracket farther the clearance might be an issue. I can't say from here.
