HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

crosspost from ****list, maybe you guys will know

Wondering if anybody over here has any thoughts about changing from late to early offset. I've been looking at a lot of possibilities for ways to fit wide rubber under the fenders, and most of the options are 17/18 inch wheels, which i HATE (for some odd reason). I won't go over 16 inch, so Gotti's and BBS are looking good, but they are ALL early offset (guess they were options on the 930) and my car is late.

What needs to be swapped to make a late offset car an early? Do i need to do spindles/struts/control arms/tie rods/etc etc? or is it possible to do it with less change? like maybe just control arms and tie rods?

Thanks in advance!

I am just speaking from my trial and error on the subject.
I think you would need the early A arms of course, early struts and tie rods from the rack out. I assume they would fit the late model power steering rack.
You might need the hub and such also, I am unsure about that.

You'll be doing yourself a disservice by putting back on Early spindles as they have smaller bearings and the bolt-on rotor is an afterbirth design of one of Porsche's brainfarts. Avoid the 86T spindles/hubs like the plague....another transition design

You can slot the Late strut/spindle interface bolt-hole to keep the late hubs/spindles and struts, then get Early control arms and tie -rods....Hint, If you are a cheap-ass (read DIY/frugal) and your tie-rods are still in good shape, you can chop 29mm off the ends and re-thread them with an M15x1.5 Die.

so what is does that mean exactly? can i put on early control arms and tie rods, as well as struts and keep the late offset spindles? or is the offset really determined by the spindle?

Early models have a different spindle than the late models. Which as Xschop said has a different bearing size and hub set up.
