HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

I am thinking....

Post  Bluemach1 on Sun Jun 06, 2010 6:47 pm

I might dump this project. It is a 1986 951, Guards Red, turbo twist rims. It shows 150k on the clock but it doesnt work so who knows what there actual is. The car will pass CA smog test (spent about $1000 to get it to do so). I'll probably keep the LS1 engine, harness and computer.

But with it will go essentially the entire basic kit from 944v8s + spec clutch Stage 2 with Alum flywheel + urathane mounts + spacer kit + VSS + C5 2 Piece Bellhousing + speed bleeder + band new 2 row alum. radiator + brand new coolant tank + brand new carpet (still in box) + Turn One Power Steering Pump. The setback plates are 944v8s old style. Probably some other stuff I cant think of now..

Why the change of heart? Complying with CA smog is driving me nuts and I havent even installed anything. Electrical is driving me nuts because of smog and conflicting electical setup discriptions. Headers - stuck with stock - no CA compliant headers available. I am thinking that I will do another pre-1976 project - no CA smog test required.

This project is probably better for someone outside of california. However, there are far better mechanics out there than me in california that would surely have no problem with any of the stuff that is worring me.

I am probably into this for about seven thousand. That is just the car and parts not including what it took me to get the four banger turbo working and the LS1 motor. I suppose if someone really wanted the engine and electronics I have something could be worked out....

Anyone here know of anybody looking for a great starter kit like this??

I have an idea of what I would need to to let this all go so PM me if you want to talk turkey.

I need parts for my 86 turbo interior. alot of the buttons and switches on the dash are dry rotted and stuck. wouldn't be interested in parting anything? I would take the whole thing but I dont have that cash anymore and the shipping is crazy from there to here.

I dont want to part the car. It really is a good runner. Body is really straight. Interior is fair. I think it would be a dis-service to break it down.

What about splitting sale of the car from sale of the kit-parts? I'm sure somebody is interested in a running 951, either from here or locally on CL or local paper. The kit parts are a sure-sell here, just a matter of time until somebody needs one of what you have left available.

I would really prefer to sell the whole thing as a lot. I suppose that I could sell the whole "kit" and car seperatly as well as the engine but I would not want to piecemeal the "kit" parts outs.

IT IS NOT FOR SELL!!!

I am moving this project forward. Screw the state of California and the emissions crap. I will do my best but if it doesnt pass, I'll do it the old fashion way... just grease someones palm. I also, say screw the electrical. I'll do my best. Either it works or it doesnt. I am a bit more concerned about that as the harness from SSP is costing a small fortune. But I'll get it figured out sooner or later.

DAMN THE TORPEDOES!!!

Hey Blue Mach call or email me, I can help with the electrical if you would like, save you plenty. Of money over the Premade harness.
