After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

I'm looking at buying a car with a locked starter ignition. Everything works fine on the car other than that. Could I possibly hotwire it and drive it back? Will the steering column still be locked?

The steering cloumn lock is held in place by two irreversible dome head bolts. You would have to first drill a hole into the head of the bolts and then drive a bolt extractor into the hole to free them. Then, the assembly will drop out and away and allow you to get to the connections on the reverse side of the ignition tumbler. Otherwise, you will have to call a mobile locksmith to the scene and have him make a key. Have the title and vin ready to go!
