HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Value of a complete turbo engine?
Well, the weather is getting pretty nice and I think I am going to pull the engine from my 944 in the next couple of weeks.
It is a 1986 Turbo. It runs now and seems to be strong. Turbo boosts fine. Doesnt smoke. Just passed CA emissions test.
I would sell this complete. Including engine harness, DME, KLR, Exhaust, all hoses, radiator even the overflow tank. The odometer is stuck at 157k so dont know the true milage of the engine. I have no idea if it has ever been rebuilt.
How much should I ask for this when I go to sell it?
Thanks!

Re: Value of a complete turbo engine?
I have a similar question. I am not sure if the turbo engine in my car works. I am still messing with a wire issue but know nothing about the engine itself.
It has 92K on it and was told it ran when they parked it. I don't know how much faith I would put in that since I found out later that just having work done and parking it was 4 years ago. Stupid people like to misslead.
If I can not get the engine to run how much round about would it be worth. It is just a paper weight to me but might be useful to some one else. I figured 500.

Re: Value of a complete turbo engine?
5 years ago I sold my 86 Turbo short block, ~110K miles, for $800 to a guy in FL. The compression was good and the piston walls did not have any major defects.
The 86 engines usually have forged internals, like mine did, which could make it more attractive.
IIRC I got ~ $2800 from all the engine/turbo related parts.
