HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Yes. Cool

I'll list them on the 944V8S website with pictures when the 1st set comes in.
It took a Buy-In of 5 sets minimum, but now they can be ordered anytime, any quantity.

Street & Performance ROCKS!
Thanks S&P, we needed these.

Re: LS Series 3/4 Length Headers

Post  gt1scca on Mon May 03, 2010 11:23 pm

I have spoken with the person @ S&P that fabricates headers, and verified with the owner of S&P, that the 944V8 Headers will be available for the LS engines up to the LS7 in 1 5/8" primaries and 2.5" or 3.0" collectors. This includes the LS3. All LS series engines that S&P has installed up to 550 HP perform admirably with 1 5/8" primaries in the 3/4 length header design.

Also, anyone that would like to specify 2.5" collectors for more clearance at the starter should let me know before the end of this week. Otherwise, all current orders will be built using 3" collectors.

Only the LS7 and LS9 require 1 3/4" primaries. 1 3/4" primaries on the other applications kills low-end torque and off-idle throttle response. If a true long-tube header were to be used, 1 3/4" primaries may be necessary on modified LS2 / 3 / 6 engines. Using a relatively short tube and collector, paired with a short exhaust system and 3" secondary tubing equates to basically a long-tube header's flow characteristics.

Exhaust design has been heavily debated here, and I am not claiming the above to be my opinion, nor 100% correct. It is, however the suggested application of a highly experienced manufacturer of high performance parts who has "been there / done that".

1 3/4" primaries are absolutely available if requested, but there will be an additional charge involved. Even so, the 1 3/4" primary version will still remain LESS than an equivalent RH header. I have looked at the Renegade Hybrids headers again, and their website lists them as, [gasp] 1 1/2" primaries - for ALL LS series engines. Now that, my friends, is a little bit too small for an LS3 rated @ 430+ HP. And the worst part? $1100.

Thanks for investing in absolutely the best production 944 V8 Conversion Header currently available. It only took 15 years of neglect to get here...And it happened in what...6 months or less?

Bye Bye itty-bitty headers with a Godzilla-sized price tag...

RH's headers are only 1-1/2"!!! I never knew that! Have they thought about what happens with a cam and head work when designing those? Laughing

I cant believe people pay 1100+ for those if they're really only 1-1/2". Might as well be drinking straws. Laughing

Would S&P be able to provide a CARB certified product?

RH Headers

Post  Max Energy on Tue May 04, 2010 6:32 pm

Gentlemen,
FYI regarding size and pricing.
I have a set of RH Headers that I purchased approximatley 6 months ago for an LS3 and they are 1 3/4" primaries with V-Band Collectors.
I actually wanted 1 7/8" but they indicated that they had 2 sizes available 1 1/2" and 1 3/4"
Price was as follows:
1 3/4" LS Headers $849.00
Ceramic Coat inside and out $200.00 adder
V-Band Clamps $200.00 adder

Nice, still too expensive. My headers are CARB legal and cost me $275 for my LT1.

A total of $1249.
Higher than I had thought.

Nice to finally know about the primaries for sure, but S&P will pay ball for less.
And the quality should be much higher. I expect someone will offer an even better deal eventually...
If the RH headers are what meets the needs of their customers, so be it. I knew there was another option lurking somewhere, and I found it, for a minimum Buy-In.

How about the fact that the S&P headers, un-coated, 1 3/4" primaries if requested, 3" collectors, with standard collector flanges, could be offered for $200 less than the same base RH header? Also, the S&P equivalent of the RH "fully-optioned" 1 3/4" headers would still come in @ $200 less. I offered all options included, with a design suited to the LS engines being installed in the 944 / 951, but these may be configured based on individual needs after the Buy-In is complete.

The LT1 has several nice solutions for outstanding prices. If we could send S&P a set of modified long-tube LT1 headers, or even 3/4 length, they would gladly make those also, and they would protect the rights to them.

Unfortunately, S&P does not have CARB certification.
I tried, but no deal.

Sorry these weren't available earlier, Max.

I spoke to S&P today...

Driver sides are complete, including coating. The passenger sides are being coated, and should be complete very, very soon.
