Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

NEW 944 / LSX Conversion Parts Site...
The name is simple.
The parts are proven.
RH has a new headache...
944V8S.com
The LSX parts haven't had a dedicated site other than RH, until now.
I'll keep it running until the LAST 944 is converted...
Doug was right...
Someone made a bad decision.

Awesome
Now add some headers, harness modification and ecu reprogramming and I will be set. There is another debate going on over on rennlist, I think I will link this site for them.

Slight correction: For the caliper adapter, change "adapts Lexus rotor" to "...caliper".

I really think those should be a great seller once people catch on, but i don't know...maybe people are opposed to having a Terdyota part on their cars

Re: NEW 944 / LSX Conversion Parts Site...
I just got off the phone with a guy that used to make 911 brake kits locally. He used to sell Outlaw caliper & rotor kits on Pelican...(he also had the 911 V8 & 502BB 928).
A contact with Outlaw may prove worthwhile...they (used to) sell "custom" calipers minus their logo, not sure about now. At the very least, a comparable Outlaw caliper with the proper mounting locations may be possible. The '86 Turbo would be the first candidate for a "BIG" caliper that fits the Boxster S rotor... and the best part would be "CHEAP".

Big brakes even under 15's?
Since I have a set of 85.5 Phone dials with almost new meat. I think i am going to develop a front kit that will compete with these guys.....

I think I can take it one step further than the Wilwood kit and actually put on bigger rotors, the stocks are 282 possibly even do a 6-pot set-up strictly for the V8 swap and allow the 15" wheels to stay put.... The rotor set-up is the unknown.......
Again, that damn 86T might come in handy

Re: NEW 944 / LSX Conversion Parts Site...
I have used the Outlaw calipers on a few off road projects. They are a nice setup and decent priced. The only thing i noticed about them was they do not have a traditional dust seal around the piston. Longevity on a daily that is driven in weather may become a problem. I use their sprint car calipers so they may be different from their streets. On nice thing that i do like is the ceramic piston option, in my mind if the pad shears off and falls out you shill have the ability to use the piston to get stopped.

Re: NEW 944 / LSX Conversion Parts Site...
Most of the 911 conversions he did were street cars, with occasional track days. That was also 5-6 years ago...I haven't looked at their catalog lately, but if the street calipers have dust seals, they would make a nice setup - probably decently priced too.

Re: NEW 944 / LSX Conversion Parts Site...
The LS engine uprights have been updated, and new deals are being worked out for many new parts. A price cut on the LS Basic Kit, as well as most other parts, is now in effect. The LS engine uprights have been updated to reduce spacer thickness to 1/4" or less, and the original SBC / LT1 uprights will become applicable for these engines only.
Here are some of the new parts deals I'm working on:

Makin' it easy.
And more affordable.
