HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

LT1 A/C Bracket

Post  Oso on Sat Feb 20, 2010 11:51 am

Hi, I have been looking for an A/C bracket for a while now. Autozone doesn't sell it and tells me to go to GM. Does anyone have a picture of the stock bracket or a part number for one that fits in the 944. I have a 96 LT1. I found a dynomax one [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] but it doesn't look right, even though they told me it would fit.
Thanks

You need to use the alternator from a Buick Century 4cyl if my memory serves me right. edit: apparently it's the v6 version that is needed.

Yup... Timmys right as per usual (except what I used was the V6 unit). I simply asked for a 1993 buick century custom with the 3.3L 3300 V6 engine and they gave me one for ~80 bucks and a lifetime warranty. They wanted a core so I gave them an old alternator from a jeep. Laughing They had no problem with that....they just want an alternator back.

Delco CS130 Series
ACDELCO Part # 3342419A
Mounting ears must be at 6 and 12 o'clock.

BUICK CENTURY CUSTOM (1992 - 1993)
BUICK CENTURY LIMITED (1992 - 1993)
BUICK CENTURY SPECIAL (1992 - 1993)
BUICK SKYLARK 1992
BUICK SKYLARK CUSTOM 1993
BUICK SKYLARK GRAN SPORT (1992 - 1993)
BUICK SKYLARK LIMITED 1993
OLDSMOBILE ACHIEVA S (1992 - 1993)
OLDSMOBILE ACHIEVA SC (1992 - 1993)
OLDSMOBILE ACHIEVA SL (1992 - 1993)
OLDSMOBILE CUTLASS CIERA 1992
OLDSMOBILE CUTLASS CIERA CRUISER S (1992 - 1993)
OLDSMOBILE CUTLASS CIERA CRUISER SL (1992 - 1993)
OLDSMOBILE CUTLASS CIERA S (1992 - 1993)
OLDSMOBILE CUTLASS CIERA SL (1992 - 1993)
PONTIAC GRAND AM GT (1992 - 1993)
PONTIAC GRAND AM SE (1992 - 1993)

Just make sure whatever you get, that it has the 12 o'clock mounting ears with 6-9/16" center to center.

Oh yeah, you do have to cut the bracket. The one that nearest the valve cover or rightmost as looking at the bracket on the car.

Some have had great luck with that aluminum braze stuff... [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Others have simply drilled holes and used metal braces or flat stock (commonly found at lowes and the like).

If you dont plan on running AC, PS, or simply just running an alternator, you may simply want the CS130 alternator and a alt only low mount kit which I believe Greg/Admin makes??? This is what I did and used alterstarts low mount kit [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

We lowered the alternator , but now the belt is too long . Can I just take a measurement using a rope and go to autozone to look for a new belt ? Does anybody have a PN for a belt that fits , after cuting the bracket ?

Just measure the length you need and go to the parts store, take the old belt and tell them that you need that style and your new length.
