Will this header work?

So, I was looking at the modified headers posted on here and didn't see much of a difference out of the stock header from my LM4. I know it's cast, but do you think it will work?

can you give me a side angle to look at? from here it looks gd but i cant tell if the depth is shallow enough or not.

The flange will hit the firewall alot. It would end up where youre gas pedal is. Im in the same boat though. Gonna have to build a set from a weldup kit.

Ive looked everywhere for a set that may fit and the closest is the headers from hotrodlane or S&P. Looks like the RH headers are made by them.

what ever that thing is under the exhaust, that will get in the way alot. from what i have experienced on my sbc the steering rack comes to port 3 and 5. if you make it if it will be the closes i have seen, but im gonn have to say no because you see how the exhaust 22 degree downward? i believe it will hit at port 3, but im not a ls1 runner like ya, i got the sbc. so good luck!

Has anyone ever looked at a CTS-V drivers side exhaust manifold?

Heres an idea (and hit the "Thanks" button if this works!) if one of these stock GM headers looks like it may just work, what you can do is order the LSx header flanges and 2 header flange gaskets and space the drivers side header out towards the frame rail by inserting the flange between the header and head. This may possibly allow the header to clear the steering shaft.

The LT1 sanderson headers worked like this. The passengers side header CC2 was set off 3-3/4" from the head but the drivers side header CC90 was set off a whopping 4-1/2" which cleared the steering shaft quite a bit but was also quite close to the frame rail. But it worked.

It looks like there are GM cast manifolds that may work if they dump nearly or straight down just like the Sanderson CC90. So, if someone has say corvette C5 headers or any other GM header laying around and wants to see if spacing it with an extra flange works....much appreciated.

It may also be possible to space other aftermarket headers this way as well. Looks like theres some LS headers out there that dump straight down but just need a bit more offset from the head.

SPACERS - so the spacer provides enough room that the steering shaft travels between the block and the header? I would have thought that bumping it out would only make the matter worse. If anything, I thought you would want to tuck it closer to the block. I must be missing something...

Im not saying it will or wont work. I have never tried it. But if you look at the picture I posted above, youll see that the CC90 (the header on the right) is just the same as the CC2 (the header on the left) except that its spaced out further from the head. This is what worked on my LT engine.

If you can get primary #7 to clear (meaning pass between the shaft and frame rail), primaries #1,3 and 5 will follow. This means spacing the header from the head.

This depends on which GM header they have. If people took their GM header, with the engine installed, and tried this with spacers in thicknesses of a flange, then maybe theres a solution.

Trying to get the headers to tuck into the block isnt going to work because the shaft gets closer and closer to the block especially at primary #1.
