HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

rh oil pan leaks? Empty rh oil pan leaks?

Post  tooms351 Sun Jun 14, 2009 6:08 pm

Hi everyone, first off Thanks, this board kicks a** and I'm glad for the new and specific meeting place! I've been chasing an oil leak for a while now and wonder if anyone has this problem with their rh pan. Theres a right side leak but only at high rpm, between 5k and 6k, I've changed the valve cover gasket (not that) I don't think it's the dipstick, could it be the front seal or side gasket? Its really hard to pinpoint, by the time I get the engine up that high the oil mists or burns on the down pipe scratch I've heard about the pans leaking but never really heard of where or when. Once again, thanks in advance. Joe

rh oil pan leaks? Empty Re: rh oil pan leaks?

I do not have an RH pan, but mine leaked when I first made it. The welds were not absolutely perfect and it would leak only when it got hot. I had to remake it and make sure the rubber seal is perfect. If you over tighten it , the metal can distort around the pan flange. Look close and see if the flange is flat.

I'll check when I get home tom. I did run my finger along it and it seemed dry, is there an o ring or other seal between the dipstick and block, I just put one in there (o-ring) and its bolted to the head via a tab I welded to the stick

No there is no real seal around the tube , I alway use a little silicone around it before I push it in. Check the pan gasket and make sure it has not been s mushed out or in.

Alrighty I got under the car today, and ruled out the dipstick, the pan gasket dosen't seem distorted but was wet and the front pan seal was seeping. This leak is usually worst at the track which is always after an oil change. I'm wondering what capacity these pans hold? I have a remote, small size oil filter and a front mounted oil cooler. This last change I used 5 qts but did not blow out the lines or cooler.(just lazy) So how many qts is everybody else running? tanks
