The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

ISO best technician to assist LSx swap in Wash DC region.

Post  gcirillo on Wed Jan 06, 2010 1:11 pm

I am trying to put together a "turn-key" estimate for an LSx conversion (currently own a 944 n/a but would probably start with a 951 donor). Knowing my talent, time and space limits, I would propose to deliver a 951 with an LSx to a technician and write a check. The goal would be a streetable (but primarily track-oriented) 948 that looks and runs great.

I live in Rockville, Maryland and would much prefer to deal with someone local on this estimate. Any ideas on what shop(s) might be experienced with this? I'm mechanical enough to know that the second time you tackle a project, you do it MUCH better and MUCH faster than the first time.

Thanks.

I live in Rockville as well, I can't recommend any shops, as I try to do all the work myself and with the help of good friends like Skywalker and the folks on this board, they are an incredible resource. The people here are the best. Very Happy

Hey there! I'm in Laurel - down the road from 87-944S. Should you decide to undertake the conversion yourself, I'm available. Welcome to the darkside.

I thought just owning a 944 was already on the darkside! Unfortunately, I do not have the facilities to handle the transplant myself. I will probably just watch and learn for a while. I just paid over $3K to re-seal the top and front of the engine, so it would be a shame to chuck the engine.
