C5 Bellhousing and Adapter

Post  968gene on Thu Dec 17, 2009 10:06 pm

I'm going to move to the Quicktime setup because my car will be seeing only heavy duty use (full time track car) and one of the clubs requires a race bellhousing. IM or email me.
Thanks,
Gene

Quick Time 944LS Bellhousing

Post  Max Energy on Sat Dec 19, 2009 2:44 pm

968Gene,
Could you please update with the quality and fitment of the Quicktime Bellhousing. I was considering utilizing a Quicktime but someone told me that the dimensions were not correct for the 944/LS converstion. If this does fit properly and the dimensions are correct I will have a new C5 style BH for sale.
Thank you,
Max

Check out the website

The data on their website makes me believe that the conversion BH and the C5 plus the adapter that is FS on this site are dimensionally the same (+/- in depth but close enough for the 944 body tolerances). I'm opting for the QT only because my engine will see prolonged high RPM. I've held Rob's plate in my hand and it is a high quality product. Had I been quicker, I could have snagged a used C5 QT BH online a few days ago and used it with Rob's plate.

Installation "cred"...

Post  gt1scca on Sat Dec 19, 2009 9:29 pm

Slightly OT, but...

I know of at least 3 of the QTI bellhousings that have been installed, but no one has shared any feedback concerning the BH depth vs. TT insertion in the pilot bearing. I am fairly certain the early problems have been corrected (as far as rear attachment orientation goes), but would like to see some installed measurements to prove the 6.4" depth is acceptable.

Other than proving itself, I think the QTI BH is a nice deal...Steel SFI approved scattershield, designed specifically for the 944 torque tube, and about the same total investment as the C5 / adapter plate setup. Two of the guys that actually helped "nudge" the RM-6033 into production haven't verified the setup to date...

Here are a couple of cars with the QTI BH installed...

It's close in there, that's all I'm saying...
