For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Current Thinking On Car With No Heater -- Hose Routing

Post  944v8inDFW on Wed Dec 16, 2009 10:31 am

What is the current thinking on a car with no heater, as far as heater hose routing goes?
Loop back the hoses?
Cap the Hose barbs? ( i think that would require no T stat)

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Personally i would run a loop, unless you can find a GOOD way to cap the outlets.

Looping would be easier on you and the pump. Or use them to run a another fenderwell radiator etc. Very Happy

Has anyone ever come up with a molded U bend in 3/4 heater hose?

I know theyre out there. Cant remeber what car I saw it on. Coulda been a PCV hose though.

Anyway, 5/8" 180 degree silicone hose is popular in the "air-induction" marketplace.

I used my heater loop to add a supplemental radiator (don't need the heater much in FL). I can't figure out how to put a picture in this thread so I put them in my gallery - Jim968. You can also just loop it with some SSteel flex hose. I posted a picture of that method also. I got the flex heater hose from Summit.

cap or loop

Post  xschop on Wed Jan 20, 2010 7:29 pm

Studying the Pump routing, capping the ports individually would be like running the heater valve closed causing a greater velocity to the radiator. That's why I will run without a T-stat and the inner heater port hole closed off for better cooling. This will just take a little longer for the engine to warm up to full temp.

If you just cross the ports over, less velocity of the coolant to the radiator will result because the coolant will just be recirculating in the engine....my $0.02

The sad thing is I found the part # to the hose that fits that water pump perfectly. I don't rember it now, but if you go to an auto parts store, I went to O'reilly, you can flip through their hose catalog and there is a perfect 180 U hose that goes from the two different sizes.

The only thing you have to do when you get it is cut the ends to length. Thats it, no bending, no thinking. Just go check out the book at your autoparts store.
